NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son has been attending for about the last 6 months. He had a rough start with the transition at 16m old but the staff were incredible and didn’t give up on him. They helped us help our son with the transition to his new school and now he is excited to be there! He is picking up after himself, working on self dressing, potty training, and even cleaning up after meals! (And he’s just about 2 now). Teachers are very responsive and on top of putting the daily activities and updates in the app, and they definitely see parents as a team member. I can’t say enough good things about MSD. I would recommend to anyone. It may be pricier than other places in the area but it’s WORTH IT.Parent Review9mo ago29 Reviews - St. Michael's Lakeside School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was 16 months when he started here. I was a terrified first-time mom, and was worried about sending him to a school-like setting too young. Turns out it is one of the best things that has ever happened to him! He is now 19 months old, and gets so excited when we get to school every day! He LOVES his teachers (Ms. Alisha and Sammy!) , and doesn't want to leave at the end of the day- which is what every mom wants to see in a school. His teachers really love and care for him, and give me details about his day and his learning. They send out a weekly newsletter with pictures which is so fun! My son is learning so many more words and songs being at school, and brings home art projects each week. Would highly recommend St. Mikes!Parent Review7y ago1 Reviews - Stella Maris Academy St. John's Campus

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved our children from the local public school to Holy Rosary several years ago. We regret not making the change in schools sooner. The class size is nearly half of what our local school offers. The teachers are dedicated and have more time to spend with each student. It seems that the majority of the students are very motivated and have supportive families who truly value education. Administration is very involved, fair, and extremely responsive to parent concerns. Overall Holy Rosary has been an excellent experience for our children and family.Parent Review12y ago4 Reviews - Many Rivers Montessori School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen our family moved to Duluth after I completed my medical training in New York, our son was 4 and our daughter was 2. We enrolled at Many Rivers Montessori expecting it to be primarily a preschool and kindergarten option for our family. Today, our son is entering fifth grade and our daughter third, and we've chosen to stay. What has kept us there is the combination of academics with independence, problem-solving, creativity, and practical responsibility. Our children have learned everyday skills such as cooking, setting tables, cleaning up after themselves, and taking responsibility for their environment. They've also learned to write in cursive, spent significant time outdoors, participated in nature-focused trips and experiential learning, and had opportunities through extracurricular activities such as robotics, soccer, and chess club. We have also appreciated their early exposure to micro-economies and learning to be entrepreneurial, coming up with ideas for crafts to make and sell at their annual Fall and Winter festivals. The mixed-age classrooms have been particularly meaningful. Younger students have the opportunity to learn from older children, while older students gradually take on mentoring and leadership roles. Over the years, we've watched our own children become more confident, independent, creative, and capable of approaching problems in different ways. We've also really appreciated how well the guides know our children and the level of individual attention that comes with the smaller learning environment. The school community has given us opportunities to know other families and to be genuinely involved in our children's education. No school is a perfect fit for every family, but if you're comparing options in the Duluth, Hermantown or other nearby areas, especially if you're wondering what Montessori looks like in practice, visiting Many Rivers and speaking with administrators and parents can be very helpful. We originally planned to stay only for the early years. The fact that we're still there many years later is probably the clearest endorsement we can give. It has been an amazing experience for our family so far.Parent Review1mo ago17 Reviews - Many Rivers Montessori
