Read what parents are saying about Seven Hills Preparatory AcademyStudents often hate the classes that they have to go to. I have heard many complaints about the classes and the high expectations, down to Kindergarten. Classes either too easy or too hard, with no in-betweens. There are some wonderful teachers, but teachers are often spiteful or mean-spirited. A story I heard while there was that a teacher got fired for swearing. Teachers are often very strict and do not give much elbow room. You can get in trouble from putting something where the staff do not like it, or by simply laughing or cheering at something a staff member does not like. The staff prioritizes the students that they like the most. The counselor in my experience was very active, going and talking about things and was very welcoming. Special education staff simply segregate students and can get very ticked off by students simply wanting help. The school is a very safe place, with routine drills and safety talks, but bullying is rampant during recess and even inside the building. The PTA is very nice and welcoming. Students do perform very well and are smart. Teachers can be sores, as the Latin teacher teaches in Latin and rarely in English, and students have do not learn Latin, rather only just some words. The VIP system prioritizes favorites and speeches often fabricate excuses. Rarely are teachers nice. Gifted children get limited resources, with simply a slightly faster grade-level education. If you have a gifted child, send them to a different school.

Posted by a parent on 8/31/2022The one benefit at Seven Hills used to be the smaller class sizes however, that is no longer the case. The classes are packed and the learning style that the refer to as “classical” is actually boring and outdated. There is no creativity or appreciation for students having time at school to work on homework and get help from teachers. The amount of homework is aggressive and essentially takes away family and activity time for kids. The learning style is outdated and the leadership has began to push their political agenda nonstop. There is a lot of bullying and it is rarely addressed or taken care of and the allow it to continue over and over again to the point that many students have left the school for this reason. They claim that raising upstanding children is of high importance to then yet they fail to back and support the good and allow the trouble makers to continue on the same track. If they truly want to make a difference in the lives of these troubled children, they would not sweep everything under the rug. The executive director is an extremely rude, arrogant, man who lacks the skills to effectively communicate with the families and very clearly has no understanding of what children need.
Posted by a parent on 3/20/2022The teachers and leadership staff all the way to the receptionist at the front desk are very rude and dismissive. I will be transferring my daughter out of this school asap .
Posted by a parent on 10/8/2018I absolutely LOVE this school. My daughter loves it, also. She went into school barely knowing how to read (she’s in kindergarten) and she’s not even done with kindergarten yet and knows how to read chapter books. My daughter has learned at such a fast rate since starting this school. All of the teachers, including the principal, all genuinely care so much for their students, and it all shows in their students. I HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone looking. They do go on a lottery and then wait list, so I would do that as early as possible!

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter was part of the first class at RDLS. She graduated from Richfield High School in 2020. She received a platinum seal of biliteracy from the city. When she entered college she was well prepared and was able to enroll in higher level Spanish classes. She will double major with Spanish being one of them. In addition, she has completed an internship in Spain. We believe these opportunities are due to the foundation she received at RDLS.Parent Review1y ago - Indian Mounds Elementary School
