Adlai Stevenson Middle School

Unlike the other reviews of this school, we had a very negative experience. The current Principal thinks she is God and doesn't like to listen to any parent or child. She is only involved with the special needs children and just "deals" with the others. My daughter was severely bullied her whole time here and nothing was done about it. I know about a girl who was pushed off a piece of playground equipment by a special needs child (broke he arm requiring surgery) and only a small suspension was given as he was special needs. Most of the teachers, IMO, just want to get through the school year. My daughter rarely had homework. Very little teacher/parent conversations even though I was trying to be involved. The PTO is a joke.

My oldest is in second grade and has been a student here in early education, to young fives and through second grade now. We absolutely love this school. We live on the other side of Westland and have done school of choice because of how great the staff is. Every teacher we have had has made a large impact on my children's lives and they enjoy school. Mrs. Shepard, the principal could probably name 90% of the students by name. She is very hands on and cares about all of the kids. The recent upgrades to the enterance have made the school even more safe!

We’ve had a truly wonderful experience at Schoolhouse Montessori of Canton. Our oldest started in June 2023, and our second child joined in January 2024. As we prepare to move to another state, we’re incredibly sad to leave, this school has been such a meaningful part of our family’s journey.The teachers and staff are exceptional, warm, loving, and highly prepared. Their dedication, along with the outstanding education based on the Maria Montessori method, has made a remarkable impact on both of our kids. It’s been amazing to see how much they’ve achieved at such a young age, both academically and emotionally. Their development has been truly impressive.The extra classes like music, gymnastics, and Spanish have been such a great addition to their daily learning. And the after-school extracurriculars like piano and sports have given our kids even more opportunities to grow, explore, and build confidence in a fun and supportive environment.We are so grateful for the nurturing atmosphere, the thoughtful structure, and the love and care our kids received each day. Thank you to everyone at Schoolhouse Montessori of Canton for giving our children such a strong, joyful, and enriching start in life. We’ll miss you all dearly!

Run away!!! Don’t be fooled by “our student are one level advanced than public school”. “Make sure everything is written as no verbal communication as they will promise things and not deliver it. I am talking about personal horrible experiences. New management is always ready with excuses.
