Read what parents are saying about Dresden Elementary SchoolI've had very good experience with the principle, teachers and administrators at this school. Everyone is welcoming and understanding to each students individual situation. Great communication between parents and staff.
Posted by a parent on 1/4/2020Positive at this point. I wish there were more examples of math handouts so parents could understand some of the work.
Posted by a parent on 9/26/2017Teachers try to understand the students and teach in a way that the students won't forget. Although many people may argue, the school does need more clubs. Overall, I enjoyed my seven years there and will hopefully be able to send my children there.
Posted by a student on 1/7/2016I have three children attending Dresden and love this school. Our family has so many avenues that we are involved and the kids love coming to school each day. From chess club, to HERO awards, Bingo Nights, Book fairs, A.T.G., 4H, the annual talent show, and the list goes on. My children have been instilled with the internal rewards of achieving their personal best at school. At the end of the year, students are recognized at a special awards ceremony for many areas of achievement. It is a very special day to them. In addition, each card marking this school honors an incredible HERO within the classroom who is kind, works hard, and is outstanding in some way. My children have had this honor before and it is quite something to see the pride they hold within. We had a change in principalship a few years ago, and I am pleased to see how our new principal is starting to settle into her own and making personal decisions on the best interest of her school. It is always difficult to fill someone else's shoes, but it is much better when your own pair of shoes are doing the walking. GO DRESDEN DRAGONS!!
Posted by a parent on 11/23/2014I have 4 kids that attend Dresden Elementary, my oldest being in 6th grade. There was a change in principals a little over 3 years ago, and the school has vastly gone downhill since. The amount of activities that helped encourage my children to want to attend has diminished greatly, including having a quarterly Honor Roll assembly. Since this changed over a year ago, both of my children that had been on the All "A" honor roll, their grades have dropped to "A's and B's". While this is still fantastic, they have stated to me-"Well, why try so hard if it makes it all the same at the assembly." We addressed this concern with the principal and I was met with bewilderment from her. Also, when trying to meet with her regarding educational needs not being met, I am left with an option to "meet in 2 weeks"-which does not seem very accommodating. My children and myself used to enjoy coming to the school to learn and volunteer, now I avoid it as much as possible considering I have to see the defeated looks on the staffs faces, hear the principal talking to parents and staff in rude and demeaning tones, and it just being a depressing atmosphere in general.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a joke. Some teachers are great, while others bully their students. Students with an IEP are not having their needs met. The lack of communication between staff and parents is something that could be worked on. They are always short staffed and always having busing issues (my child was late to school every single day last year as well as getting home). It was never communicated from transportation or the school that they were late, everyday! I just watched my students grades drop over the year and their self esteem because they'd get picked on for being tardy by 15 minutes *almost every morning! There are very few teachers at this school that are the exception. This school has had 3 principals in 4 years, if that says anything. It all went downhill after they made the decision to get rid of the principal Mrs Pritchard after a transportation issue that was more so the superintendents fault than anything. Staff will lie about your students IEP needs being met when they're not providing the services they're required to by law. We withdrew last year. So happy we made that decision and wished we would've sooner.Parent Review1y ago - Plumbrook Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor the teaching is good not to bad but for the self emotion I don’t they care so much and they don’t punish the kids who bully my son at all and they don’t care about this thing beside that for the safety I would give them zero point because I dropped my son at the front office so he could go faster to the class he has only 2 minutes left but who ever was in the from told him you still can walk to your class and she let him go but as soon as he walked to there the class was close and she didn’t let him in and I wasn’t with him they left my son outside alone and my friend called to tell me my son is outside I had to come back for him and when I was telling the front office about what happened they didn’t gave me any attention and they were so rude they are not professional at all they have a bad behaviour and attitude and they are not responsible at allOther Review10mo ago - Browning Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm an old student of browning, that school is full of bullies, they are disrespectful in so many ways, and the current principal takes all the boys' sides. the teachers are amazing, and I have good memories of the school, but most of my memories there are horrible, if I had a choice to go back to that school id save myself the trauma and hate I received, I don't advice you go there, and when I grow up if I have kids, I don't plan to continue the tradition of them going to Browning. I'll send them to a better school, and over all I don't believe browning deserves to be one of the top three schools in Michigan. the education system is whack.Other Review9mo ago - Wiley Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI do remember the years that Wiley was thriving as stated by others. Today’s Wiley is much different. Yes, there are still some outstanding educators, but sadly Candace, the principal, has absolutely no business working with children, especially those with different learning needs and styles despite diagnoses. The growing diversity across UCS and the differentiation required is NOT being addressed by the current principal and some educators. They speak a good game to cover their behinds, but they have no grasp of reality and act as if they are still in the 1950s. If your child is a robot, then this school is for you. If your child and you live in the real world, you might want to think twice.Parent Review1mo ago - Dekeyser Elementary School
