Read what parents are saying about Calverton Elementary SchoolThis is one of the best schools I have ever been a part of. The teachers care about their students and the students seem to genuinely like learning in their classes.
Posted by a community member on 10/5/2022This school received one star which is too high of a score. This is the worst school for my 2nd grader to go to. The teachers and staff are terrible. My son went through life changing situations at this school. Please don't send your child to this school or you are going to seriously regret it.
Posted by a parent on 5/16/2016My grandchildren attend Calverton Elementary in Beltsville, MD. Having recently moved to PG County from Montgomery County which has a reputation for good schools, I was very skeptical regarding the education my grandchildren would receive. Since August, I have had the opportunity to view this particular school on a daily bases. I pick my grandchildren up every day. I am happy to report that the teachers are exceptional. They care about our children and their education. Being an educator, I see how leaders are being developed in this school. Kudos to the staff!!!! Keep up the good work. This is one PG County school I have no reservations about!!!!!!!
Posted by a parent on 10/27/2015I scored Calverton low, not due to the teachers, but for the Administration. The Principal has an agenda that excludes parental involvement. The PTA is weak/nonexistent. Her style also causes the Teachers, who are great and visibly care for the students, to limit their time to school hours only. They cannot get out of the school sooner. The Principal actively avoids eye contact with parents. The only point I would give the principal is she knows our child's name but due to her management style I am concerned WHY she knows my child name because my child is not a disciplinary problem. If you are parent who wants to participate in the community building process at your child's school, Calverton is not for you. Please do your research before selecting this school. I no longer like walking into Calverton and our family is considering moving to escape Calverton Elementary and the Principal's homeless/FARM mentality of the community.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTaking the time to write a recent review as prior reviews are severely outdated. Principal Fuller is NOT involved in what goes on at Galway and lets her staff run the show (YIKES!). Fuller does the BARE minimum (IF that). She doesn’t seem bothered by complaints brought forth by parents (very concerning). Perhaps she used to be a good principal, several years ago, but that’s certainly not the case now.Parent Review2mo ago - Greencastle Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo far, my experience in this school is fantastic. I feel very safe, and almost nobody bullies another person. And if they do, they always get punished. The teachers are great, even if they are strict. Honestly, a lot of kids just don't like doing work here which is why is doing not so well, but for the most part, it is wonderful.Student Review6mo ago - Hollywood Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have been at St. Joseph’s Catholic school in Beltsville for over 8 years and we have observed the school only improving from year to year. From obtaining the Blue-Ribbon status, to the increasing numbers of qualified faculty and staff, to updating classrooms with technology such as smartboards and iPads, it has been a continuous dedication to make St. Joseph’s the excellent school that it is today. The teachers and staff are dedicated to the children and teaching them the Catholic values. The students themselves learn not only the necessary curriculum, but kindness, respect, and discipline that are very much missing in today’s world. If you decide to send your child to St. Joseph’s, be prepared to be involved in the school community with volunteering for various activities, having an open communication with the teachers and staff, and taking an active part in your child’s education. St. Joseph’s is a school that, through a strong partnership with parents, will provide a foundation for your child to thrive.Parent Review1y ago
