Read what parents are saying about The Wilkes School At Grace & St Peter'sVery disappointing - especially the academics! They only have one child in the entire third grade and only 4 children in the fourth grade! We have so many private schools in the area - choose a better one!
Posted by a parent on 3/10/2020We love Wilkes! Our child and his peers were well-prepared to go on to middle school. And the friendships he developed are strong and will last. The teachers at Wilkes really care about the children they teach.
Posted by a parent on 6/4/2019For the early grades, our experience was just ok, with the exception of homework, which was awful. The upper grades... if your child colors in the lines and is extremely sequential in their thinking, is not a target for bullies, and doesn’t need much instruction (ie just a naturally motivated learner or has very involved parents to support learning), he or she may do well here. But for the money the school is charging....do yourself a favor and look into the instructors’ training, experience, and philosophy before making any decisions.
Posted by a parent on 6/3/2019No where else can you find this small class size or the free before and aftercare. At The Wilkes you can clearly see the value in the education your child is receiving.
Posted by a parent on 1/18/2019We love Wilkes! The quaint old buildings; the small size; the way they use the resources of the neighborhood, like the library, the Walters, the Meyerhoff, and the Historical Society; the small class sizes; and the wonderful community of families all add up to a wonderful preschool and grade school experience. The students end up getting into prestigious middle schools, so the academic foundation is solid.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCherry is by far the worst thing to ever happen to this school. There is no consistency or positive motivation for either students or staff. Students run the school and the teachers can't do anything except try to keep up.Other Review13y ago - Johnston Square Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wish I could give this school negative 5 stars. It is absolutely the worst school I have ever came in contact with. The teachers hardly teach and let the kids do whatever, they allow them to fight and bully other kids and act like they did not see anything. They like to say the students are lying on them when they tell their parents what's going on. The kids never get homework. The principal Ms. Adams never knows of anything when you bring it to her attention she says she's going to handle it and it never gets handled if you bring it back to her attention she deflects and goes in defence mode.Parent Review1y ago - Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience with this school was horrible. My son (lower elementary) loved being able to go to school to learn everyday, but he hated being bullied by a child twice his size in the process. There is a lack of communication between the teachers in regard to bullying that is taking place in different classrooms. If you are having an issue with something that happened in a class other than your child's homeroom class, 9 times out of 10 the homeroom teacher doesn't know about it because the other teacher didn't mention it. The learning environment was about as average as any other public school. It can be very busy at times and a bit overwhelming for a child if they're not use to making decisions for themselves about what activities to do next. I don't understand how they claim to be a school that is based on allowing children the ability to move around freely, but then the teacher complains if your child moves around more than other children. As far as bully is concerned, the students are able to get away with bullying because the principal doesn't have a clue about what is going on. Then when an issue is brought to her attention nothing is done about the matter either way. When an issue of one child doing something to another child is brought to the attention of the teachers they hold the children accountable by talking to them about how they could have handled a situation differently and what they should do in the future instead of what was done this time. They are great with communicating with parents about events such as fundraising, changes to the calendar, and other activities. In my opinion, if you're child gets accepted into a different charter school definitely choose that one.Parent Review1y ago - Bethel Christian School
