Posted by a parent on 6/15/2022My son is going into his Junior year, although initially I was sceptical due to the appearance of the school I through that to the wind due to the passion of the football coach..... Thank God I did!! The teachers, office staff, athletic staff have all so wonderful, so up lifting and so motivational to my son!! I thank God I mad the choice I did...... Appearances can be very underestimating.... To say the least!!
Posted by a community member on 7/24/2016St. Frances Academy is a school that is very different from other high schools. Most high schools look for students who are in the upper 15 to 10 percent of their class. St. Frances will take students that other schools will reject for various reasons and give them a chance. Most who graduate from St. Frances are accepted in a variety of colleges and succeed. While the school focuses on the student and his or her needs--physically, socially, academically, spiritually , and emotionally--it does cater to the very bright student as well as students who struggle. If a student buys into the program and eventually graduates, he/she is usually very successful. Students have attended Georgetown, Jesuit Wheeling, Notre Dame University, Loyola University, Boston College, University of Maryland, Coppin University, Morgan State University, Towson State University, Wake Forest, Xavier in New Orleans, Frostburg, and many others as well as junior colleges. St. Frances takes students from nowhere to College. Call to schedule a visit or shadow day for your child.

So what does that tell you?Parent Review1mo ago - Johnston Square Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience with this school was horrible. My son (lower elementary) loved being able to go to school to learn everyday, but he hated being bullied by a child twice his size in the process. There is a lack of communication between the teachers in regard to bullying that is taking place in different classrooms. If you are having an issue with something that happened in a class other than your child's homeroom class, 9 times out of 10 the homeroom teacher doesn't know about it because the other teacher didn't mention it. The learning environment was about as average as any other public school. It can be very busy at times and a bit overwhelming for a child if they're not use to making decisions for themselves about what activities to do next. I don't understand how they claim to be a school that is based on allowing children the ability to move around freely, but then the teacher complains if your child moves around more than other children. As far as bully is concerned, the students are able to get away with bullying because the principal doesn't have a clue about what is going on. Then when an issue is brought to her attention nothing is done about the matter either way. When an issue of one child doing something to another child is brought to the attention of the teachers they hold the children accountable by talking to them about how they could have handled a situation differently and what they should do in the future instead of what was done this time. They are great with communicating with parents about events such as fundraising, changes to the calendar, and other activities. In my opinion, if you're child gets accepted into a different charter school definitely choose that one.Parent Review1y ago - Community Initiatives Academy
