Read what parents are saying about Norwood Elementary SchoolNorwood Elementary is a hidden gem. The teachers and staff are excellent and dedicated to the students. Principal Mark Taylor and assistant principal Michael Ruppenkamp are doing a great job. My apprehension about the Dundalk area is eradicated due to this outstanding school. My child has completed kindergarten and first grade, and is currently in second grade, and has experienced excellent teachers who are committed to their profession. There are many after school events. Communication with teachers and administration can be done by email and phone, and responses are rapid and respectful. It is 2024 and we are impressed with the exceptional high quality of Norwood in all areas. Norwood Elementary school should be rated a 10 out of 10.
Posted by a parent on 2/9/2024It was amazing the teachers and staff are so kind and they helped my kid a lot when he couldn’t focus because he has ADHD.
Posted by a parent on 11/6/2020The teachers and staff at Norwood are amazing. They truly love their students, there are plenty of before and after school club as well as family nights and activities. We moved to Dundalk the year before they moved fourth and fifth grade to holabird. Honestly we never had any issues with it.... Issues started in sixth but that has nothing to do with Norwood. I have had four children pass through Norwood, all with different personalities and learning levels and they have each succeeded. Great school!
Posted by a parent on 2/2/2018This used to be a great school prior to 2012. Since then, Eastwood Elementary was closed and combined with Norwood and Holabird Middle. Students in grades 4 & 5 have been transplanted into a wing of Holabird Middle. Obviously, student count has grown significantly, even pushed for higher numbers to receive more funding. Don't get me wrong, the technology has improved, since they have now labeled these schools as "STEM" schools, but the experience the kids receive is much different now. Much less intimate, with a higher teacher to student ratio. Common core curriculum does not help the outlook, coming into the picture near the same time.
Posted by a parent on 4/11/2016My son is a student at Norwood. We have been very happy with his teachers thus far. So far my son has had Mrs. Ross for Pre-K, Mrs. Vourvoulas for Kindergarten, and Ms. Hoffman for first grade. All three are exceptional teachers and very kind women that carry themselves with great integrity.

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was reading past reviews of this school and they were mostly based on the old school building which was demolished and a new one was just built a few years ago along with newer younger staff. My son is special needs and he loves this school, always happy and excited to go and see his friends and teachers. The new Dundalk Elementary is gorgeous, all high tech and very clean. My son has been progressing a great deal thanks to its great teachers and counselors who care deeply about his education and well being. The reviews of this school should be revised because they do not reflect the actual progress.Parent Review1y ago - Grange Elementary School
