Posted by a community member on 1/7/2014My son transferred to South Highlands this year as a second grader, and he transferred from a very strong neighborhood school. I cannot tell you how wonderful this experience has been! I wish all students could know what it is like to go to a school where EVERYONE is dedicated to making you a success in learning. They set the bar very high, and the kids reach the bar! A tough decision to leave our neighborhood school, but he is reaping a benefit that his other school would not have been able to provide. We love you. South Highlands!
Posted by a parent on 4/2/2011I can't say enough about the quality of education my daughter is receiving at South Highlands. Caring teachers, awesome technology, and a principal who is always thinking of ways to make the school more effective . . . . what else would a parent want?? A 5-Star School!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student, st marks was one of the worst schools ever. The education was so bad. It did not prepare me for high school at all. Most of the teachers were horrible to everyone. They were rude and belittling. One of them, made the girls bend over infront of the boys in my eight grade year.St marks did not help me when my anxiety was at its worst. I had the worst experience there during middle school. There are so many better schools out there. St marks education is horrible. The only good teachers were the French teacher and 8th grade English teacher. Everyone else. Were not great teachers. The only reason I went to st marks was due to a speech impediment. It helped with that but it took about a decade to solve that problem. Also, the safety of the school is awful. When a kid THREATEN TO SHOOT THE SCHOOL, the principle did not do anything until the music teacher yelled at him. The teachers did not do anything against students doing drugs or anything like that at the school. Also, they did not do anything about cheating. I never cheated but literally most of the students in my grade cheated.Other Review5mo ago - Southfield School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSouthfield School has truly become our family's home in Shreveport. From the moment our children joined, they've been embraced by a community that values lifelong learning and nurtures curiosity. The dedicated teachers and staff are always attentive to our concerns and make us feel heard. What sets Southfield apart are its exceptional enrichment programs. The Passport Program broadens horizons by fostering global understanding, while the Suzuki Strings Program ignites a passion for music from a young age. Additionally, the MBA class for middle school students equips them with practical skills for the future. We are immensely grateful for the enriching experiences our children have had at Southfield School. It's a place where they not only excel academically but also grow as individuals. Without a doubt, we give Southfield School five stars!Parent Review1mo ago - First Baptist Church School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI moved my 2 children to FBCS from another private school in the area and it was the best decision I could have made. The teachers really meet the children where they are and help them learn. Both of my children have grown so much in their time here. the friends that they have made have been great and the parents are wonderful as well. Lots of parental involvement and we love the ideas that the new headmaster has implemented this year! I would recommend the school to anyone looking for a Christ-centered education as well as a great academic education for their child!Parent Review3mo ago
