St Rita School

I taught at this school years ago and I really enjoyed my experience at this school. I previously taught at a school in Ascension Parish and I hated it. At Henry Ford the students can actually read and comprehend what they read. At the school I worked at in Ascension Parish, I was lucky to have an eighth grade student read on a second grade level. At my school in Ascension we knew a couple of weeks prior to evaluation that the school was going to be evaluated and we went to the perfect school role and acted like a good school is supposed to act. It was nothing but a horse and pony show. When I accepted a job at Henry Ford, I thought that I died and went to heaven. I had no problems with the students and I was amazed at how efficient Henry Ford was. When some people told me that Henry Ford was the worst school in Jefferson Parish, I told those people that they sure didn't know what the word worst really meant. My only regret was that I wished that I had started my career working at a school in Jefferson Parish. At Ford, the teachers really cared for the students and the majority of students really cared about their education.

I DON T UNDRSTAND WHERE THE NEGITIVE FEEDBACK COMES IN AT.. BUT I AM A VERY CARING PARENT YET HAD NO PROBLEMS AT THIS SCHOOL FROM KINIGARDEN TILL 5TH GRADE. MY CHILD DID GREAT. I KNOW A LOT OF PARENTS IN THESE 6 YEARS AND NO COMPLANTS FROM THEM... ANY WAY 5 STARS FOR HARAHAN ELEMENTRY...

My child has been in the special education department since kindergarten and is now thriving and entering the third grade. All of the teachers provide regular updates and are courteous and kind when I reach out to them.

The worst school ever. My son never had a problem with pink eye until we enrolled him in this school. Once you enter the school , it smells like your in the middle of bourbon street.. yes urine smell.It was many students in my daughter’s class that didn’t speak English but spoke only Spanish. My daughter, 8 y/o at the time , was told to help those students and she doesn’t speak Spanish. No program to help foreign students learn English- just throwing them in a school without knowing anything. Carpool is probably the most organized. They don’t even ask for id when checking your student out! My sister was about to sign out my son , many times, as long as she knew his dob name and grade level.

My daughter went to this school and I will forever regret her attending her , she was bullied by teachers and students and after I called to report a teacher the same teacher refused for my child to get on the bus and did not call us and let us know where she was so I ran to the school and left work and the office was horrible , she was called out numerous times in front of others by teachers about her disability came home numerous times and everytime i complained or sent a letter they made her day horrible and everytime we asked for a meeting we were denied and when i returned her to her old school they refused and gave complete attitude when asked for records . They keep getting out of bad reports being made due to principals ties with governor; I honestly have no idea why this school is open !

This school is terrible. Do not send your children to Jefferson Parish Schools. My J.S. was punched in the stomach by Officer Green. J.S. was in the second grade at the time.
