Westwood Elementary School

We absolutely love this school! Every staff member knows my daughter and our family and is beyond welcoming. The principal greets students daily outside and dresses up in silly costumes just to make the kids smile. They offer regular family after school game nights/activities and they're always free. Mrs. Micheel (kindergarten) is an angel and is clearly an experienced teacher and loves kids. The staff even know my younger child by name and tell her they are excited for her to join Lincoln Lions in a couple years. They have made this new town feel like a home for my kid.

The teachers at this school go above and beyond for the kids that come into this building. This school has a high amount of emotional trauma that the students bring in with their backgrounds and the teachers make amazing growth with all of them.

I’ve had two children attend Eisenhower Elementary from kindergarten through fifth grade, and both have continued to be successful students in the district. Over the years, we have worked with around 10 teachers and instructors, and I have had no significant concerns with any of them. They are well trained, dedicated to their work, and each brings individual strengths to the classroom.I especially appreciate that the principal and administration allow teachers the flexibility to use those strengths to create successful learning environments. The principal is a classy, professional leader whose top priority is the students, with a clear focus on strong instruction and appropriate discipline.At one point, one of my children had some minor discipline concerns. Even then, the intervention team and teachers remained supportive and encouraging. They developed a plan that was specific, realistic, and measurable, and it helped address the issue successfully.I know some parents have mentioned communication challenges, but that has not been our experience. We have found communication with the school to be open, honest, timely, and constructive.Overall, Eisenhower Elementary gave my children a strong academic and social foundation, and I’m grateful for the role the school has played in their growth and success.

We loved here about a month ago in March and we came from a small town and community. This school is nice but teachers seemed pretty rude. Once I drop off my child to school in the mornings there's a man outside who does all the traffic at first he used to let us go in and now he makes people go around for traffic it's ridiculous? He's a tall guy with glasses wears hats all the time. He's pretty rude. The beginning he was nice no idea what happened. But my child hasn't experienced nothing bad at this school at all! He made new friends and he likes it. Overall they do teach the kiddos. I do appreciate it that! But these teachers need to show some greetings to parents. And they need to change up the parking as well it's so many traffic during the time the kids get out from school. There's parents that won't let you in and out, it's too crowded. My son has not experienced no bullied there he has been here for 2 months.

I've had kids go there with the old principal and with the new principal. The new principal by far is wonderful. She interacts with all of the kids. It being such a small school makes it possible for all staff to know all kids in all grades not just who's in their class. I think the school is doing fantastic things especially for the kids who don't do well in big group settings. I did have some concern with the fifth grade teacher a couple of years ago. She didn't seem to address conflicts accurately between students and her class. My daughter told me that this teacher would tell students that they had body odor. My special needs son loves it there and is always happy and excited to go. As far as the special needs program my opinion isn't based on the school individually because those staff members go to all of the schools. But the whole process of evaluating and getting these extra services for these kids that need it is too lengthy. Also the the process and evaluating for the gifted program seems too particular. My oldest tested two times but didn't qualify because his maturity level was low even though he tested amazing in the academic parts. I assumed that the gifted program was for gifted children not well-behaved mature children. I feel like my son didn't benefit to everything that should have been offered to him based on his comprehension in the subjects I'm those grade levels.

My children have been at FRE for two years now and overall we are very happy. The teachers have been kind and patient with my kids. Everyone knows their names and helps them feel comfortable at school. Academically, my kids are thriving. I really this school has been the best they have attended.
