Franke Park Elementary School

I had two daughters attend Forest park (4 yrs apart so we had 10 years of experience with the school. Most of the staff were very passionate and caring. This school has a very diverse student population and we were so pleased with our kids starting their learning here we kept them enrolled even after we moved out of the district. Yes a few issues popped up over the years but they were handled well and it was nothing outside what you’d expect from an elementary school. The newly renovated playground is a bonus for the kids but space is tight at the school because it’s 100yrs old. The pick up and drop off clog the neighborhood so be prepared for that. But overall all it’s a great school and I would recommend it to any parents who value not just the book learning but a whole educational environment that produces great little humans.

As a ex-student of this school ( Now being in Highschool ), I realized how bad this school was. I had ELL and was given no reason of why I was placed in there. I was bullied and when I stood up for myself, I got punished. Yes I tried to solve a problem with violence but I was never taught how to solve a problem with bullying and no teachers helped me during this. I wasn't the only one getting bullied and they still did nothing. This school needs to teach students to not judge and not to act this way in a manner which in the future isn't gonna help in Middle and High Schools where education is at its peek.

Our experience at this school has been extremely disappointing.After our daughter reported a situation involving a staff member that made her uncomfortable, we began to notice a significant shift in how our children were treated. We no longer felt supported, and over time it felt like our family was being singled out rather than heard.When we requested that our daughter be removed from the classroom due to safety concerns, we were told that was not an option and were advised we would need to seek legal counsel if we wanted to pursue that request. At the same time, we were told our children could not be removed from class, yet they were later directed to leave when they attempted to attend, creating confusion and inconsistency.Communication has been one-sided and often lacks clarity. Concerns raised by families do not appear to be met with thoughtful consideration, and decisions frequently seem to default to staff without a full understanding of the broader context or history of the families involved.We also experienced inconsistent application of policies, including academic expectations and participation in activities. Additionally, the overlap between staff and families within the school community can make it difficult to feel that all students are treated objectively.This has led to a breakdown in trust. Most importantly, we do not feel confident that our children’s safety and well-being are being prioritized. When a student speaks up, they should feel supported and protected; not isolated.

My son absolutely loves this school, and we do too. They helped him academically before we even had a service plan put into place for his attention and academic struggles. Everyone has been super kind and welcoming- families and teachers. His teachers are always quick with responses and keep us in the loop. He started reading below level, and is now in the 88th percentile according to I-ready, and he is reading 2 grades ahead of his current grade.
