In Illinois, this means that a school meets certain criteria for academic performance and student success according to the report card from the state. The overall meaning of the rating is that according to the state report card, this school meets or exceeds the state standards in Reading, Science, and Math for grade levels.

We have two children at the school and we've been there 4 years. Teachers are consistently high quality (effective, well trained in pedagogy and curriculum, and strong classroom managers). Several teachers we have had are some of THE BEST teachers I've ever seen in my experience with education. Something that sets this school apart is how built into the day opportunities for academic differentiation and social-emotional support are. The school uses data to frequently place students into tiered instruction, both for more challenging work and remediation. Every teacher we've had has been communicative- particularly in responding immediately and with care when we reach out- and seems to TRULY care about their students. I also love that the school staff is fairly consistent, and MANY adults in the building (including admin and superintendent) know your children by name and know you if you participate in events with regular frequency. In my experience, adults at this school have gone above and beyond to attend to both of our kids' unique needs.

An outstanding school with a great community feel. The teachers are responsive and demanding. I've had my two children go here and it was a wonderful experience.

this school really bad, but thats mine opinion

As a middle school parent at St. John Brebeuf School, I can't say enough good things about our experience. The staff is incredibly caring and patient, always taking the time to truly understand and support the needs of each student. It’s clear that the teachers want the kids to grow not just academically, but as kind, respectful people too. And whenever we've had a concern or question, the administrators have been quick to respond and genuinely open to listening. There's a real sense of community here, and you can feel that your child is known and valued. We're grateful to be part of a school that blends strong academics with a warm, faith-filled environment.

We love SMOW. The small classes, wonderful teachers--particularly our outstanding principal and AP--and fantastic specials programs (you should see the artwork my kids come home with!) make us feel so good about the choice we've made for our kids. They love school (for reference, my kids are in 6th, 5th, 3rd, and preK). Being a part of SMOW means being part of a tight knit community of people who help each other out in times of need and suffering. We have a huge variety of sports teams and after-school enrichment programs. There is also aftercare daily, which is reasonably priced. Could not recommend it more. It's a great day to be a knight!
