The atmosphere at Budlong is warm and welcoming, and I'm grateful every day that my child is surrounded by people who genuinely care."

I’m speaking for my sister and me. I am a regular student who had already graduated 2 years ago, this school is amazing. My teachers were great, really did try they’re best to give advanced education to us, they kept us on check, while also having some fun, yes of course some teachers were strict and not fun, but they really did prepare you. Likewise, My sister had some trouble with all the subjects and had to have individual classes to help her keep up. Which I found very great. She told me how the classes helped her, along with some books I gave her, that fit her interest, she grew well alongside supportive teachers. They gave her weakened work as well, and supported her all the way through. Great teachers, with great patience. The safety and diverse community is great, they have a lot of opportunities to be out and social, clubs and afterschool programs, a great park, and a great school ground with a safe community. Though, the counclers do need some work with keeping everything fair from a problem I had with another student. They do care about every student, adress problems the parents have, give meetings and try to keep the students comfortable. Other than that, the school is fine, and well. I’m saying this as a graduate from 24, and my sister just graduated. It was a good time in that school. I recommend putting your student in!!

Waters has an excellent philosophy on the whole child, which was important to our family. I felt compelled to write a review based on what most of us parents experience and defend, a great local community school with high standards and an ability to constantly collaborate with stake holders. Thank you, Waters, for being what you are to our family.

Our daughter attended junior kindergarten at North Park and has now started kindergarten, and we have been incredibly happy with the school. What stands out most is how genuinely known and understood she is here. The teachers recognize who she is and give her both the warmth and the appropriate boundaries she needs to thrive.North Park creates the kind of emotional safety that makes children open to learning. Our daughter feels comfortable being completely herself, looks forward to seeing her friends and teachers, and comes home excited to tell us about her day.Because it is a small school, the community feels unusually personal. The teachers, administrators and counselor know the children, and families have meaningful opportunities to know one another. The transition into kindergarten has felt thoughtful and reassuring, and our daughter already experiences school as a place where she belongs.No school can be the perfect fit for every family, but North Park has been exactly what we hoped for at this age: warm, joyful, developmentally appropriate and deeply attentive to the whole child. Seeing how safe and happy our daughter feels there has made us even more confident in our decision to send her.

My son has completed two years of preschool at Queen of Angels grammar school. He is starting to read already and doing the curriculum of a 1st grader. The teachers are detailed orientated and truly teach the kid lessons early on that they will need to be successful as they progress through 8th grade and beyond. I would say that the teachers and school higher ups over communicate what is happening at the school and in the classroom. This is defiantly not the case when I talk to family friends that send their child to a public school in the area. The school has a buddy program where a preschooler is matched up with a 4th or 5th grader which creates cohesion and respect throughout the levels of the school. My experience is my child getting high fives and fist bumps leaving school rather than bullying. The community of the school is tight-nit with parents that are very welcoming of new families. Families are given many opportunities to give back through service and build new relationships through events. We are a very happy family with Queens and put our trust in the school with our son which is our #1 priority. Nathan Voegtle

Our daughter had a certain teacher at this school. The year before, with her teacher Béatrice Neveu, she was thriving and rated "mastered" on nearly everything, being a genuinely gregarious, outgoing kid who loves school. With this teacher, something changed fast. She started coming into class, grabbing a book, and going to sit by herself in a corner instead of joining the other kids. That was not who she was. When we brought it up, this teacher didn't really tell us anything. She said our daughter probably needed more sleep. We actually had her moved an hour each day to a younger class for a naptime so she could get an extra nap during the day. It didn't help at all. We kept pushing and finally had a sit down with the Head of School, who told us what was actually going on: there was another child in our daughter's class who was yelling and acting out regularly, to the point of being physically restrained at times. The school was working with that child's parents to get help. But, nobody thought to mention any of this to us, even as we sat in a room with this teacher asking why our daughter had changed and become quiet. In the meantime, her grades had quietly dropped that same semester with things like speaking in front of the class, previously a "1" for mastered, were now a "3," developing. Nobody flagged it, nobody explained it. After learning all this, we pulled her out of the school entirely, and Semester 2 never happened for her there. Almost immediately, she was back to herself and thrived the next year at a different school. Béatrice, her teacher the year before, was warm, attentive, and the kind of teacher our daughter still talks about fondly to this day (thanks, Béatrice!). This other teacher was the opposite of that experience for us. She lacked transparency and was unsupportive.
