Foster Park Elementary School

The current Principal is the rudest person I've met in a long time. I have subbed here a few times and would not do it again. One time I had no sub plans, no roster, and no schedule (this happens regularly at Cook). Students were running around the building and I had no idea who was even supposed to be in my class because there was no roster. I alerted the principal that students were just roaming freely (at least 10 students) he shrugged and said he was busy. Did not care at all about where they were or their safety. The staff admits they don't like the principal at all and even apologized for his behavior. It's not the staff that's the problem, it's that principal. Morale is very low and if I had to deal with him every day I would not want to come to work either.

An 8/10 because it created a mindset that carried me throughout high school and onto college. I found out what my likes where as far as my talents in academics and extracurriculars that can manifest into a career. Things that I found myself doing in high school because I was introduced to it at Fort Dearborn. The people as in teachers, certain ones for me but it all depends on who you are and who you connect with, had an affect on me and I will always remember them pushing me to be who I am, and who I was to them, was great and promising! But, of course things may change for students, this was back in 2012.

As the previous comment mentioned its still same. Admin doesn't give proper consequences, kids are so disrespectful not only that but expect so much of you as a staff member with little to no support

My student started Cuffe in 1st grade and graded last year to attend Whitney Young. The staff and especially the Principal is hands on.

Dr. Spells is amazing with the kids. A good school with a solid foundation for raising and nurturing our future generations.

I cannot recommend this school. The community is an insular one--good luck breaking in--and the kids who are not the super athletic types will fall by the side. All four of my children attended, and the first one had a great experience, but then again, he was an athlete and an outgoing boy. He received plenty of attention. Then my youngest three sons went here and were bullied and ignored. It got so bad that we transferred them out mid-year, and we were glad to take the financial hit. Complaints to the school about the bullying did nothing. The school says they practice a "Choose Kind" philosophy, but don't be fooled, as these are mean people. Finally, the school is lacking academically. When my younger children transferred, they were behind. My son had practically all A's at CK, but was behind in math and Spanish in high school. He caught up, thankfully, but he was not happy with his preparation. The principal dragged her feet in dealing with the bullying problems and had little to say about revamping the curriculum to meet contemporary needs.
