Van Wert Elementary School

This school is horrible! The cafeteria has awful food, it’s cold, not done and some has black stuff in the food. Some of the teachers and definitely the principal does not effectively handled bullies. Some teachers do not reply back to emails for meetings etc. They allow some kids to wear a face mask with a skull on it, which is very disrespectful. I have pictures to verify. Some of the teachers are rude to some of the sweet, innocent kids and make them feel depressed. My child is a victim of this. They do not include parents in anything at this school dances, field trips, etc. This school is the worst school I have ever heard of! They do not congratulate the good behaved kids, student of the month etc... This school has awful reviews and needs to be revised! My next action will be the board of education and a formal complaint!

The principal doesn't listen to your concerns.

They teach my son very well and, are some what acceptant of his limitation's. My son is five and, isn't where he should be he's at different age levels as far as speech and many other motor skills and the like. The problems I have with them (teachers) are they complain far to much about my son, he's five for cry out loud; I can count without using all fingers how many years he's been in existence. My son has no attachment to them what so ever because they don't try to connect with him at all, if they did it would make their job easier. They don't try to communicate or other wise try to make an effort to talk with me. They do talk to me very briefly at the end of the day; other than that the only other time they tried to communicate with me was about two weeks before they were up for review. The communicate stopped immediately after the review. I don't know maybe I'm being too hard on them; maybe that's the way schools operate now. From what the review paperwork I had to fill out said they weren't communicating with me or my son the way the state would like. Anyway they are trying to teach him but, I see now I can't expect anything more it's just a place to learn; not grow as a person.

this school goes far and beyond in all they do ,my kids love this school and all the teachers,.i feel they are safe and do a great job teaching ,and are always working to make it even better, so kids will love going to school each day! this school has many times called when I was needed and kept in touch by emails and take the time to privately let me know of the work they do and their needs,hats off to van wert elem. without them I don't know if I would be a secure parent when they go each day. you could not ask for a more well staffed group of team members there,working together each day and truly caring for the childrens future and learning skills.we are very blessed to have Van Wert elementary school in our community.

This will be my son's first Year I heard the school was great so i decided to enroll him there
