Read what parents are saying about Double Churches Elementary SchoolEveryone from the office staff to the bus driver are absolutely wonderful. The teachers really care about the kiddos and work hard to help them get the most effective education.

Posted by a parent on 6/16/2020Kindergarten was great. First grade was good. Second grade is when all the fun in learning is taken away. The superintendent assured me several times through the school year that children are required to have daily recess; the principal thinks that structured kid friendly work out videos are sufficient. Recess is only even offered twice a week, and even then, god forbid there’s a cloud nearby, the weather is deemed not favorable and no recess is given, indoor recess is still not a much needed break from learning but another structured activity. This is not the only school in the district with this problem, it’s just the one I can speak to. If you believe recess is an important part of young children’s ability to learn, then this school is not for you. I highly recommend calling any other school in the district to find out what their definition and implementation of recess is before enrolling. And onto the educational aspect... if your child went to pre-k or preschool prior to starting kindergarten, be prepared for a very bored kindergartener as yours will already know everything they’re teaching. It will depend on the individual teacher if they can be bothered to challenge an advanced child (we lucked out here). First and second grade education seems fairly standard; HOWEVER, we selected this school prior to kindergarten based on its 8/10 rating on Great Schools, and just 2 years later, has fallen to a 4, so that can speak for itself.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery difficult to write this review. My child/children have attended Wynnbrook Christian School for several years. Unfortunately, we have been forced to make a school change this year. There is no longer a school board with parent involvement. The administration doesn't want parent input, you are not able to speak with the school board. You have to appeal, and even after appealing, communication wasn't the greatest, which is extremely surprising. I loved Wynnbrook and never wanted to move my children. It hurts my heart honestly. It started two years ago with one of my children in prek, he wanted to cheer with his sister, but they say no and I understood that he just wanted to do something with his sister, he didn't even know what that was. He had seen men Auburn cheerleaders so he thought he would do stunts. Long story short for him, he was bored and couldn't stay seated. They suggested that he move to the half-day preschool. He finished the year, preschool pre-k passed him. The regular Wynnbrook tested him and said no he needed to repeat prek. He did not make all his sounds correctly and failed by just a small margin. He went to the park a second time, and last year they wait to tell me he can not repeat it and wasn't ready for kindergarten despite me also paying for him to have tutored by the school. So they blocked his application. He was diagnosed with ADHD and was started on medication before the end of the year. Was doing well. He said if Jesus can give you second chances why can't Wynnbrook? I prayed and tried not to be bitter, and my other children continued to attend. This school year 2022/2023 when open enrollment started they blocked my other child's application, I asked why? Was told he wasn't ready for kindergarten, he also ended up repeating prek twice, plus they did preschool from age 2 on. In March I told my child who has gone there from the beginning, but the board said my child wouldn't be able to attend due to no longer being able to deal with epilepsy students. They had all this time, and there are still students there with epilepsy. The appeal was denied but they avoided the communication, I wasn't told till 2 weeks ago, she couldn't attend because the appeal was denied. My child loves Wynnbrook and the only friends known are there. It breaks her heart and doesn't understand why. It feels very personal, I've prayed because I don't want to be bitter. At the same time it wasn't Christian like.Parent Review8mo ago - Brookstone School
