Read what parents are saying about Chamblee Firs Tumc KindergartenMy oldest child attended several preschools in the area before we discovered CMK with my 2nd child. CMK is a gem! The positive energy is contagious, beginning at carpool line. Every single teacher and staff member is joyful, professional, and nurturing. I'm an educator and can be critical of school programs, and I don't have a single complaint about CMK. My kids have learned so much, in a no-pressure, encouraging atmosphere (but still with high expectations). I have no doubt my daughter, who was in Pre-K last year with the infamous Ms. Clemmons, will be more than ready for Kindergarten at the public school and I'm super excited that my 3rd child will be starting the 2's class next year with Ms. Roxanne!
Posted by a parent on 8/2/2022My son attended Chamblee First UMC for 5 years. He started in the Parents Morning Out program, then did Pre-K and Kindergarten. The teachers and staff are amazing. They do a fantastic job teaching preschool skills, while promoting play, fun and friendship amongst the students. The principal, Allison Spangler, is great - she learns each student's name within a few weeks of starting school and encourages each child individually on a regular basis. I highly recommend this school!

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child is thriving here since we went back in person. Great community and teachers and admins who care. Any school these days could use more resources and less complications to deal with but all said and done, the kids are learning a ton, the community is great.Parent Review2y ago - Huntley Hills Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageChesnut is wonderful. I love how equally diverse the school is and that all subgroups are performing well. The school has many activities for kids to get involved with and my son loves being a Chesnut Cougar.Parent Review1y ago - Ashford Park Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAshford Park is such a wonderful, nurturing, inclusive, and academically hands on school. The teacher retention rate is one of the highest in DeKalb County, and it is no surprise, because this school has such a wonderful community feel. The school uses a phonics based curriculum for early readers and Eureka Math for math. The Foundation / PTO is extremely strong, as is parent engagement in general. This school is such a gem. Learning is fun at Ashford Park and students receive German instruction (including a German Immersion program), art, music, PE and STEM. The school also offers many after school programs like Run Club, STEM club, chorus, band, orchestra, art club, garden club, after school care, and more. High quality and affordable summer day camps are also offered.Parent Review1mo ago - Cary Reynolds Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child's second grade teacher did absolutely nothing to protect her against being bullied and abused by other students. The teachers were not watching the children during recess when my child was repeatedly attacked, ostracized, and physically abused by other children. When my child was touched inappropriately by other students it was not taken seriously by the teacher, the assistant principal, or the counselor. The claim was never completely investigated and my child lived in fear of these monsters for years. It took years for my child to speak up about what actually happened. I am outraged as a parent that this was ever allowed to happen and that it occured due to a complete neglect of supervision and oversight by a careless teacher. Let me put it plainly - There are child aged predators in this community and the playgrounds are not well supervised. Teachers stand around in groups and talk while children are left to defend themselves against older predatory aggressors. My child was afraid because the counselor did not believe their claims and the second grade teacher did not help when my child went to her for help. Her teacher was supposed to protect her but instead made things worse by leaving the class unattended for long periods of time, and ignoring when I brought up my concerns. When I raised concerns as a parent they were not taken seriously and only partly investigated. If your child is now in middle school you need to start asking difficult questions about their experiences at Dunwoody Elementary. If you are anything but the all american white family with a large dunwoody home you will be treated as inferior by teachers, parents, staff, and management. I personally witnessed mistreatment of minority families during the registration process. The fact that parent volunteers check your address on a google map is insulting and discriminatory practice. The commentary from these so called volunteers that some received at this part of the registration process is unbelievable. The fast pass registration system is also discriminatory. Not all families can afford these large donations to get into shorter registration lines.Parent Review1y ago - Cross and Crown Day School
