Read what parents are saying about Sylvan Hills Middle SchoolMy experience at this school was that alot of teachers did not care to teach and allowed students to act up, fighting was common at the school.
Posted by a community member on 2/28/2019I am a teacher at the school. There is very little structure or routine in place for the students. Students are given far too many opportunities to behave badly even when another student is assaulted or hurt. There is little drive amongst the students to perform in class or even do their work. The administration pushes promotion of failing students, compounding the problem. I would not send a relative to this school, but there are worse schools in the district.
Posted by a teacher on 5/16/2016This year it's a new school that looks very high tech. They also have a lot of new teachers and it seams that they blend well with the teachers who stayed on board and went to the new school.
Posted by a parent on 8/7/2015This is one of the last honest schools in APS. I admire the teachers and Mrs. Atkinson. I was apart of the 08'-09' school year working in the Hands On Atlanta program.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFinch Elementary school is truly a diamond in the rough in the Westend of Atlanta. I have found the school to be full of caring and dedicated teachers and staff who go over and beyond the call of duty to ensure that all students learn and exprience academic success. The building is clean and bright. I am happy to have met the staff and leadership of Finch Elementary school.Other Review2y ago - Slater Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't like this school! My grand daughter gets bullied,, she tells the teacher, the teacher ask if she's bleeding or hurt.. my granddaughter says no.. so she told to go back to her desk with no conversations with any of the bullies!!!! Other things have happened at this school but I will not get into it! SO THIS SCHOOL IS A HARD NO! going to start looking into other schools for my babies! 0 stars!Parent Review2mo ago - Gideons Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent of two students who went partially last year, all I can say is stay away!!! Don’t get me wrong the fluff and “Genius” this and “Genius”that, massages the ego but beneath the surface there are major problems. The test scores are horrible as you can see. No report cards. “Charter” classes like entrepreneur but majority of the kids can’t even count or add in the 4th and 5th grades. They even used my daughter’s adoption as a way to promote their “new learning” tactics on national tv. My Wife and I immediately regretted doing it to this day. It was so bad I chose to take my daughters out who couldn’t write, read,or do math beyond a 1st grade level just like most of their peers. I quit my job and homeschooled them and we worked harder than we had in our lives. I was able to get my special education 4th grader on 5th grade level and my first grader actually discovered she may be a genius.lol.. They were motivated by the history of Blacks and an obligation to take advantage of the educational system their ancestors fought for. So imagine the defeat they felt when they were told by below average Kindezi Gideon that they would have to repeat the 4th and 1st grades. My daughter cried and told me she just wanted to prove herself. Imagine being a Father who worked her endlessly threw her learning disabilities and overcoming years of feeling inferior to be told by the same institution who praised her on national tv but failing miserably, now saying she would have to repeat a grade simply because she wasn’t homeschooled at an accredited school. The audacity of a school with a 99% rate of under preforming students to actually act like this. As a home owner paying a large part of my $5000 property tax to a institution that is failing our kids makes me sad and uneasy. So I suggest all parents to take your kids and run!! Run to your School Board Meeting,City Counsel Meeting, etc and force these schools to help educate on Black Boys and Girls who barely can read and write. Instead of playing jazz on the first day how about using that money for Saturday family reading and math classes?Parent Review1y ago - Nur Academy

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am thrilled to share my exceptional experience with Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy (TAG) and the transformative impact it has had on my scholar's education. Enrolling my child at TAG three years ago has proven to be the best decision I could have made. One of the standout aspects of TAG is its commitment to fostering a holistic environment of health and wellness for all students. The school goes beyond academic excellence and recognizes the importance of nurturing the well-being of every learner. Through a range of initiatives, TAG ensures that students have the support they need to thrive both academically and personally. While you may come across some negative feedback from the past, I urge you not to be misled. TAG has demonstrated remarkable progress academically over the past five years. Year after year, the school has incrementally improved its academic performance, reflecting a dedication to constant growth and improvement. This commitment to excellence is evident in the positive trajectory of academic achievement at TAG.What sets TAG apart is its unwavering focus on the journey of improvement. The school actively involves families in this process, ensuring that parents and guardians are informed and engaged partners in their child's education. TAG's dedication to continuous improvement extends to all stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and supportive community. At the heart of TAG's mission are their guiding principles, often referred to as their "Northstar." These principles underscore the commitment to meeting the individual needs of every student. The school understands that each learner is unique and strives to provide a personalized and inclusive educational experience. This student-centric approach ensures that no child's needs are overlooked, creating an environment where every student can thrive. In summary, my experience with Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy has been nothing short of phenomenal. The school's commitment to holistic education, continuous improvement, and meeting the needs of every student sets it apart. I wholeheartedly recommend TAG to any family seeking an exceptional educational experience that goes beyond academics.Parent Review7mo ago
