Price Middle School

One of the worst school in the APS District. No exaggeration.My child has had the worst times of his life at this school. It’s rough kids do what they want without consequences. Kids bullying kids. Teachers putting their hands on students and still have a job. Administration is a joke. Academics are horrible. No interventions. Low enrollment. The principal does nothing but collect check as well as the assistant principal. Majority of the teachers are only collecting checks as well. I would never advise anyone to place their child here if you can help it. My child has suffered tremendously at this school. Physically emotionally morally and academically. I have to get him outside counseling now from the constant bullying. I will never willingly place my child at a Tier1 school such as this one ever again in my life.

I have experienced multiple concerns regarding organization, communication, and overall classroom management that have negatively impacted my child’s school experience.

I have had two children to come through CAE and I can say each year it gets better. The former principle was engaging and the new principle is implementing new ideas to peak the children's interest in the outside world. Maybe its just me, but I haven't seen any other elementary school have a student body government voted for by the actual student body (even the "pre-Kers"). The school is even STEM/STEAM certified. I am an active parent that feels welcomed by the faculty and staff of the school. I have a child that still attends Cleveland, he is gifted and could attend a more "prestigious" school, but I don't think that school would appreciate and nurture his talents and interests as well as CAE. I would (and have) recommended CAE to others.

I don't like this school! My grand daughter gets bullied,, she tells the teacher, the teacher ask if she's bleeding or hurt.. my granddaughter says no.. so she told to go back to her desk with no conversations with any of the bullies!!!! Other things have happened at this school but I will not get into it! SO THIS SCHOOL IS A HARD NO! going to start looking into other schools for my babies! 0 stars!

My son just finished up his 3rd year at Gideons. I have worked in education and I know a hard working group of people when I see them. The past 3 years have gone well for us with minor hiccups. There is no perfect school. My son has been able to join the gifted group to enhance his learning. I chose to enter the Kindezi lottery because I liked the model of small class sizes, I believe this has been very beneficial for my child. Staff have also gone above and beyond to help me with identifying things to work on at home. All children receive a chromebook and they are able to provide assignments on sick days. This is a team effort. They are also intentional about having families come in the school for academic events, PTA meetings and other meetings where parents are able to express concerns and engage in planning. We receive regular communication and they have after school support for those who need it. I am happy with my decision thus far. The principal is from the community, he is invested and it shows. Although my child is a car rider, I really appreciate seeing him walking the neighborhood with large groups of kids after school, which happens pretty often. The resource officer and other car rider staff are attentive and ensure the safety of the children.

My son has attended Atlanta Youth Academy from Pre-K through fifth grade. Over the years, he’s had multiple teachers in a single school year, and in several grades, multiple substitute teachers on top of that. This constant turnover has disrupted consistency and stability in his education.The administration appears focused on filling seats, with little regard for whether students are truly receiving the academic support they need. Children with significant learning disabilities are placed in the same classrooms as advanced students, without proper differentiation or resources.At the end of the day, AYA operates more like a numbers-driven organization than an educational institution centered on student success.
