Read what parents are saying about Montclair Elementary SchoolWe've had a wonderful experience at this school Our son spent 3 years at a very expensive private school and did not thrive. We switched to this school expecting to only stay a short time because of the majority hispanic demographic and low ratings online. Much to our surprise, our son has thrived and was very happy. He even caught up with his reading level.This is the first time we've heard him say that he would miss school during summer break. I attribute this to intimate setting. The school feels like a family environment and the teachers seem to be very invested in the children.
Posted by a parent on 6/12/2015This is the worst school my child has been to in Atlanta. We are renters so we have been in several schools. The school is all Hispanic and there class rooms are way over crowed. We just rented in this area and will be moving again as soon as we possible can to remove my child from the school district. I do not advise anyone the is concerned with their child education and happiness.

The teacher retention rate is one of the highest in DeKalb County, and it is no surprise, because this school has such a wonderful community feel. The school uses a phonics based curriculum for early readers and Eureka Math for math. The Foundation / PTO is extremely strong, as is parent engagement in general. This school is such a gem. Learning is fun at Ashford Park and students receive German instruction (including a German Immersion program), art, music, PE and STEM. The school also offers many after school programs like Run Club, STEM club, chorus, band, orchestra, art club, garden club, after school care, and more. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are currently a family here. We're waiting on change, but we will likely leave as soon as we find somewhere else. The same goes for 11 families (of 24) in our son's primary (3-6yo) class. The school is not accredited per AMI as their website states, and they also do not have Spanish speaking teachers in every classroom as the website states. Staff turnover is high, and communication is slacking despite the Procare App they use. Ratios are 1:12, which are much higher than most small schools out there. 1 lead teacher and 2 assistants (paid $14/hr) in each classroom with tiered arrival and departure times. The best part of the school are the hours, 7:30-6:00pm with tuition around $2000 a month. The staff truly cares about every individual child and has the ability to cater to each child's specific needs. They intermix the old kids with the younger kids to develop wonderful mentoring opportunities and the kids love knowing the older kids names. The school places as much emphasize on the social/mental wellbeing of the students as they do academically, which is so important.
