John Lewis Invictus Academy

Dr. Joi Kilpatrick is NOT the ideal principal/leader. She pivots from real issues and tries to justify the shortcomings of the staff & school. She loves to control the narrative and talks over you when you don't agree with her point. The environment is not welcoming and is not met with great success here (according to AYP - annual yearly progress). I recommend sending your kids elsewhere for their foundational years.

My son and I had a great experience at this school. When we moved on to another school he excelled and is far ahead of his peers. I attribute this to 3 things; parent involvement early on in his learning, Early Head Start for children ages 0-5 at Easter Seals Early Learning Center and Gate City School. Gate City School prepared him for Kindergarten and he was reading well. He was able to help one of his peers in kindergarten learn read and write his alphabet. He was ready for 1st/2nd grade math in kindergarten.
