Read what parents are saying about Bloomingdale High SchoolAs a graduate of Bloomingdale, who attended all four years of high school here I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a great education for their children without the private school cost. I would say 90% of the teachers here were above average in their teaching skills. When one attends Bloomingdale high school and puts in the required effort they will be prepared for what comes post graduation. I will always consider this school a much better place to attend than nearby Newsome and without a doubt far above Durant. Durant speaks for itself in terms of poor education and Newsome may be higher rated than Bloomingdale but your child will be going to a school to be surronded by arrogant peers from lower middle and middle class families who think they are all upper class yet none have even heard of Boca Raton let alone visted it and attended school there. Go figure.
Posted by a community member on 5/29/2023As a graduate of this school, I say this schools pretty great. They had a lot of opportunities for students and clubs for just about everyone. People don't really bully which was a huge plus for me. Although the school does have a ton of flaws and had the smoke bomb incident during my senior year, which resulted in the entire school missing half a days' worth of class, but the entire school did do an unofficial field day to pass the time until smoke was cleared, which shown how students gotten along great in their environments. There is also a bit of drug culture that not many participate in but can be often (vapes in restrooms is a huge example of such actions). For parents of a disabled child, the school is pretty decent at the care for your child as they do take care of your IEP and 504 plans pretty well and hold yearly meetings with parents and student for the progress. Teachers work with their students in order to maintain and keep up with studies.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen my daughter started school here principal Kevin Martin was in charge and he was just great. Amber Cronin leaves much to be desired. She seems to put emphasis on metrics that improve her image and not the school as a whole (attendance, testing, Bucs rallying) I love volunteering but have found her to be very disrespectful to parents and the PTA. Recent security threats at the school have me concerned as protocols are inconsistent and change daily. Principal offers no comfort or assurance to parents. Principal Martin always kept us updated and reassured. A major threat made with zero followup to parents. Students walked between classrooms under an active “lock in”. The lights for the alarms malfunctioning during active lock in without notice to parents about how this was going to be addressed. Im very worried that in a real emergency this current principal Cronin lacks the leadership skills to keep the school safe. My fingers are crossed she finds the promotion she is currently looking for and we get someone new. The school as a whole is not bad. Many experienced and caring teachers work here. Too bad several teachers left when Mr. Martin transferred. I don’t blame them considering his personality and professionalism was night and day compared to what we have now.Parent Review3mo ago - Brooker Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBrooker Elementary has been an absolute nightmare for my children and for me to deal with. The Principal Heidi Koplin is condescending when speaking to parents, and intimidates children. They can not keep consistent staff to save their lives. I had to remove both of my children from Brooker Elementary due to frequent staff changes and inappropriate conduct with my children.Parent Review1y ago - Buckhorn Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at this school as a parent of a child with special needs has been top-notch! The principal Mrs. Horn cares deeply for each of the students. Amanda Allen the ESE specialist has so much knowledge about varying exceptionalities. It seems the consequences for poor student behavior are handled swiftly and appropriately. I wouldn't want my son anywhere else!Parent Review11mo ago - Alafia Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience is that I went because of the stars and comments that this school was excellent and that they really care that the students understand and rise to the next level.First the school has the Esol program but from time to time I asked for it for 1 year since the primary language is Spanish and the help came in January of the 4th grade.Second, my son was teased and the teachers didn't take it into account until he talked to the assistant principal. I believe that bullying is not taken into account.Third, they say that teachers are trained to help children whose language is Spanish. The 4th grade teacher did not help my son at all. They said that he had a condition of non-comprehension. They didn't help him at all, they only care about those who do speak English and get good grades on the state exams.Fourth, I must thank the administration secretary, who is very attentive to teacher Murray, who helped me in 3rd grade and who knew what the language problem was, and to the psychologist, her attention was excellent. My advice is that if your child speaks Spanish, scare your child where they have the Esol program every day so that they really learn and the same thing that happened to my son does not happen to them.I took him out this year because I think he didn't get help from the 4th grade teachers.Parent Review1y ago - Foundation Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy journey through Foundation Christian Academy and High School, like every journey, had its happy and sad moments. I began attending this school during the fourth grade in 2013 and graduated as a Senior in 2022. Let us begin this review with the positive aspects. This school is great in the respect of the staff’s (the includes teachers and other members of the faculty) level of care towards the students. Surely, as in every school there are a few “bad eggs” within the staff, but, generally it is one of the more pleasant groups within FCHS. Another positive aspect of this school is the social event planning. The student government plans most of these events (Bonfire, game nights, etc). If you are worried about your child being exposed to anything unsavory during the dance events, there is nothing to fear. These events are highly monitored by the chaperoning staff and are kept under control. Now, onto the negative aspects. The first of these is the unorganized and inconsistent curriculum (different types all at state standards), which for each class is chosen by the teacher and must be approved by the administration (if this is incorrect, disregard, it’s what I was told by the teachers). The English class is an example of a class that has inconsistent curriculum because the students are taught things that have to do with literature (the good part) and things that promote anarchistic and progressive social issues which have no place in an English class at a private Christian school. Now, for the second point on the negative aspects. This is the student body. My class at least was the one you would have gotten a strange feeling about and thought that “something was in the water.” A few of them were fine people, but the majority had fake personalities. The rest of the student body is pretty much the same and puts a heavy emphasis on “in-groups” and other related factions (for the lack of a better word). The “sportsy” kids are the ones put to the top and run the show, as they are rarely caught doing anything out of character, and when they are it is only for the least troublesome scenario. If you are a person of a different denomination or beliefs, then your child will probably be ridiculed and mocked by both the teacher and the students who are part of their church, and they will most likely be mocked and told that they are going to hell if they don’t join their church. Make the wise decision!Other Review1y ago - Temple Christian Academy
