Read what parents are saying about Memorial Middle SchoolTeachers try really hard teach. Some parents are not supportive and it makes our job more challenging. Since Gillyard took over there have been huge improvements in academics and behavior. I enjoy working here.

Posted by a parent on 8/9/2022Blatant bullying and no supervision. What a disgrace of an institution
Posted by a parent on 5/14/2021Many kids don’t speak English. Very low income students. Parent involvement is non-existence.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended B.C Graham for 3rd grade. It has been the first school in which she has been able to show her true potential, she has grown tremendously academically. She has had a magnificent teacher who helped her along the year non stop, and was in constant communication with me with regards to my daughter. The staff is constantly attentive and very involved. Any issue I did have was taken care off immediately. I'm quite sad that I have to switch schools for the upcoming year.Parent Review8y ago - Seminole Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have been attending Seminole Elementary for 3 years. During this time we've had a change in the Principal and it's made all the difference in the moral of the school with the teachers and parents. The teacher's are loving and supportive. Children are able to participate in a special everyday whether it's music, art or PE and they also get 20 mins of teacher directed recess daily. It recently became a STEM school so the curriculum will be adapted to focus on those concepts but otherwise the school is structured like a traditional school of year's past. The school is small and the teachers and staff are loving, attentive and encouraging.Parent Review4y ago - Lockhart Elementary Magnet School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think the teacher's in this school have probably had enough with the disruptive children and sometimes take it out on the children who actually want to learn. They have no control over the kid's who's behavior are a hindrance to children who are trying to learn. Some children have to bring ear buds or headphones to class because of other students behaviors and how loud the others students are in order for them to focus on their work. Some teachers show favoritism to certain students. They dismiss when a child is actually being bullied when they tell them. I understand that you can't stop everything and it is also up to the parents as well to discipline their children about their behavior in school. Even the administrators and lunch room monitors show favoritism or treat other students differently because they know specific students and isolate or dismiss the other students who are different and who are trying to do what's right. We all may have been bullied in childhood and even in our adult lives. But, is it okay to have those same things happen to your child? Even after trying to be there for your child, giving them advice and talking to the teachers at the school and your efforts are still unheard? Why should my child be deprived of their education because teachers and other students lack discipline? Parents want to send their children to school to learn and interact with other children to grow and develop positive friendships for their self-esteem and social development. Children should not be filled with anxiety, feel unsafe, or have their concerns are not heard when they go to school. They need teachers and mentors to actually help students and parents need to step up and help the teachers with their children.Parent Review1y ago - Independent Community School
