Read what parents are saying about Wicklow Elementary SchoolMy daughter attended for one year. It’s okay; safe and adequate. There were some things I did not like. There were several instances that a substitute teacher told a kid to “shut up”. I reached out to Principal Windish by email 3 times and never was responded to by him. After the 3rd email, someone I cc’d had replied and said the teacher apologized to the students, but my daughter said that didn’t happen. It didn’t appear to be a big deal to them. Pros, the front desk staff is so kind. The teacher my daughter had was kind. No school projects or events or family participation for the whole year though. There was one field trip but we were told about it the morning of, no info sent home ahead of time, so she didn’t go. Overall it was adequate, no big issues. The staff that handle carline do an incredible job! It was very efficient and quick.
Posted by a parent on 8/10/2023My student is a SPED rising 2nd grader. In our first year (kindergarten) I was very excited about the school. The leadership (Principal Herdon) was exemplary she was all of the things you would want leadership to be; responsive, communicative & collaborative. However, the leadership changed in 2021/2022 and the school is not the same. This is the second year and I'm looking to see if it will be better this year.

Posted by a parent on 4/4/2022I attended this school as a student, and now have friends that teach at this wonderful school! The teachers that are their at the moment really try to get the best resources for their students, bring their best attitudes to the classroom, and really love the work that they do.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child is a good student and gets good grades with no behavior issues this school is great. If your child is a typical teen with less than stellar grades and/or not perfect behavior than this school is terrible. There is a severe lack of communication between the administration and the parents. The only time you will hear from them is if your child offended them somehow. Even if you reach out to them repeatedly through calls or emails. Do not expect a response. If your child offends them somehow then you will get a call but not from anyone you need to speak with... even if you ask for them. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is absolutely a phenomenal school that offer great opportunities to the lower income community. By far one of the best elementary schools I've ever experienced. I've had children in schools all over the country and even Germany. Non have ever even come close. I feel people are too quick to criticize schools rather than the parents. The only problems I've experienced from this school was disciplinary problems of my kid being hit on one occasion and stuff being stolen from kids in pretty much every grade. Not to mention this is my second child attending this school. The opportunities are there if parents and the children are willing to take it. The only way a kid is left behind at these schools is if the parents aren't doing their part. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been at Idyllwilde for 3 years. He has grown so much through his leadership skills and has become a very reflective student. I believe it is because of the IB PYP and Leader In Me magnet focus. The teachers are amazing and highly trained. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son loves this school because it's smaller than public school so he gets more attention from his teachers, but has a large school feel with so many things to do and all the sports they have. The football team and games were great - the lights, the atmosphere, the cheer team and band, plus the team was really good! The girl's volleyball matches were so much fun, too.
