It is a shame there is not a choice for zero stars. I am quite unhappy with the way things are being mishandled with my special needs child. I am quite unhappy with the lack of integrity from his Teachers and Staff. As an Autism Mom who has advocated for my child non stop for almost 8 years; I am beyond disgusted that this school is even in a bracket as a school that paves the way. Treating a child, the parents and his outside behavioral staff as they do is abhorrent and uncalled for. After this year; my child has one more year. He has been there his whole educational life thus far starting with an IEP and then thrusted without any standing in to a 504 which led him to almost fail and face expulsion in 3rd grade. In 4th grade he is still being punished, but even more harsh than last year, for what happened last year. And his punishment is being extended based on a lie that his Teacher stated he was talking about ‘guns’ while she is reading a book using the word ‘shotgun’ in it. So, when do we not use the word ‘gun’? Never! That’s the answer! This is a special needs student who should have never been thrusted in to 504. Myself, as a Parent could have had much more in place and much faster, if not for this. No matter how many times I try to help my son, by trying to do my best by cooperating with this school; I only get appeased temporarily just to be quieted. My son’s outside sources watched me get antagonized and instigated by the Principal, as it has always been for the last two years of her tenure at this school. If your child or children are special needs; do not under any circumstances set them up for failure and send them here. I have apologized to the Principal and took accountability for my part of any undue hardship. No one has apologized to my Child or Myself or Dad from that school. We just get smoke screened, lied to and toyed with. Once again; Leader in Me: Start asking who that Leader is and what they are really doing for your child other than free backpacks, food drives, free books and free school meals. Free comes with a price. Right now ‘free’ is wreaking havoc within my home trying to get my son to understand that some people are not honest, but to respect them anyway. I do not lie to my Child and I won’t start today!

If you’re looking for a school that doesn’t take bullying seriously, this might be the place for you.Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. Concerns about my child being bullied have not been handled with the care or urgency they deserve. Communication feels one-sided, and it often seems like families aren’t truly being heard.While there are a couple of teachers who genuinely care, the overall environment has been discouraging. There have been multiple instances where my child has come home repeating inappropriate language she says she heard from staff, which is completely unacceptable.No child should feel unsafe or unsupported at school. After this year, I’ve made the decision to homeschool my child so she can learn in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.

Amazing staff, curriculum and overall energy. Each of the faculty, in my experience, genuinely cares for the students futures and well being. To say that Charlotte Prep takes pride in watching their students grow academically and spiritually is an understatement. My kids have been going to Charlotte prep for nearly 6 years and generally accel in all areas as compared to a public school curriculum. Our kids will be going all the way through 8th grade at Charlotte Prep. A big thanks you to the great faculty of Charlotte Prep.

I went here for about 4 years and I hated it. Teachers are ok but some were horrible and the teaching here wasn’t that good either. My mental health going to this school was horrible I do not recommend putting your child in this school. From my experience I hated how overpriced and how u had to pay for tickets that are not even necessary. Never again.

My son who is now starting 10th grade has attended Port Charlotte at seventh Avenue school since second grade. It is a wonderful school with caring and loving teachers and staff very involved with parents and communication is good promoting home life and school life. I love it my son is there to do his schoolwork. He doesn’t come home with buckets his homework because his teacher has time to teach him.

I was recommended to put my son in this school due to behavioral issues. Since putting him here, I have had nothing but problems and excuses and HORRIBLE communication from the staff. I alerted them about my son confiding in me about bullying multiple times and it's STILL happening. Nothing has been done. A specific teacher has antagonized him VERY FREQUENTLY, calling him "little boy", even after he has expressed that he doesn't like that and it upsets him, and even CURSING at him. For a school "highly equipped to handle children with special needs" they sure as hell let my son down. When he tries to talk to the asst principal, he's unavailable. When he wants to talk to someone, he's denied. He's being told he's lying about being bullied and that he's the one doing the bullying, yet the places he's telling me the bullying happens seems to not be supervised well. This school is a joke. I wish I NEVER listened to others and put him here. If your child has an emotional disability, I do NOT recommend putting them into this school. I am VERY angry with the way they handle situations and would rather home school him MYSELF than to make him go back. He's SCARED here and does not want to be there.
