Orlando Junior Academy

2025-2026 is the 1st year they started classes for children with autism. They are probably still learning but they are not prepared or educated with dealing with kids on the spectrum. The assistant principal is completely rude (i also met others who have met her and also said she wasnt kind). My child loves school, but he did not want to go here. He is non verbal so it breaks my heart that he couldnt tell me what happened. It took 2 whole weeks to get him regulated, after we had to pull him out of this school.

Most of the staff that I have encountered is great. Very helpful and have good energy. I have a student that is in the general population but is diagnosed with ADHD as well as mild autism. He was on a sibling transfer that got revoked due to his misbehaving. A letter and an email was sent out to let me know I had 5 days to transfer my student. I never received an email because it was typed wrong and till this say haven't received the letter stating this. When called by the school to pick my son up, who by the way gets transportation provided because of the distance, I told them I was not in a position to do so. My husband father has passed away and I was in the process of sending him off. Which left me with no vehicle but the unregistered vehicle that I had in my drive way. My husband explained that we weren't going to be able to pick him up and that we were unaware that he was longer allowed to go to the school. The attendance staff then transferred us to the principal to explain a little further. When he answered the phone, we said hello back and forth for a minute, until I stated I was transferred because my sons transfer was revoked. I told him the situation I was in and how I was not in a position to pick him up at the moment. The principle begin yelling and being persistent that he didn't care what was going on I needed to come get my son. I told him you are yelling and that he was suppose to be the professional and he stated he was matching my energy. That hilarious because he couldn't match the energy of a grieving daughter and daughter in law. Because my father had too just passed. But that's why I let him know sir I am going through a lot and I don't have the time to go back and forth. I have no way of getting him home. I also stated that should've also been verbally said to make sure that we knew the expectation. He also yelled we don't have to do that. I called backed asked if a resource officer could drop him off, they started no. So I went in an unregistered car to go pick him up. When I get there I explain the situation to the front staff, the attendance staff then brings the email they were sure I received, for my to look at it for 5 seconds and noticed they missed the l in Gmail. So I never received the email and because they emailed it I don't believe they mailed anything. The principle never apologized or take responsibility for there error. I am a 911 operator I get calls that crazy but professionalism is the key

I went to this school from Pre-K to the Fourth Grade. I am now 22 years old, just graduated college with a psychology degree, and I'm about to start my master's degree. I often think about how blessed I was to be able to go to a school like this. This school provided so many opportunities that helped me get ahead of most people my age. This school made learning fun and easy for a visual learner, like me. Some of the best classes that I took were: Spanish, Pottery, Etiquette, coding, and an amazing Literature class. There are no "stereotypes" here. Clubs are encouraged. I remember joining chess club when I went there and never worried about what anyone thought because this was a school where being smart was cool and accepted. I'm not sure how the school has changed over the years, but this was a very diverse school that provided lots of cultural knowledge and is still to this day, one of the best schools I have ever attended. I owe all of my future success to this school because It shaped me into the person I am today. My brother also went to this school and he is now a Doctor in Nebraska. If this school is anything as it was before, don't make the mistake of putting your child in a different school. This is a school with the perfect balance of challenge and encouragement, and I wish I had known what an impact it would have on my life at the time.

Lack of Medical Accommodation and Regrettable Dismissal of Student: I am writing this review to express my profound disappointment regarding the recent dismissal of my son, Maximus, from St. Charles Borromeo. Despite our family’s transparency regarding his chronic asthma, the administration demonstrated a concerning lack of flexibility and a failure to provide reasonable accommodations necessary for his health and academic success.Education should be an inclusive environment, yet we found the school’s approach to be rigid and unsupportive. Rather than engaging in a collaborative dialogue to manage Maximus’s medical needs, the school opted to terminate his enrollment a decision that feels both discriminatory and contrary to the values of a supportive educational community.Key Concerns:• Failure to Accommodate: An unwillingness to implement standard health protocols or environmental adjustments for a student with a documented chronic condition.• Administrative Inflexibility: A preference for exclusion over the pursuit of equitable solutions.• Misalignment with Mission: The handling of this matter was inconsistent with the compassionate, student-centered environment the institution claims to foster.It is deeply regrettable that a student’s medical vulnerability resulted in a loss of education rather than a show of support. I would caution any parent of a child with specific health requirements to carefully consider whether this institution is truly equipped or willing to meet their needs.
