The school has been a real lifesaver. We are informed about when things are happening at school. The teachers are extremely supportive as long as students are willing to do their part. We really appreciate the fact we have an JROTC program. We have meetings once a month that encourage parent involvement, all you have to do is show up and choose to participate. Students have mental health resources available. There are parent teacher conferences held quarterly so one can be aware of what’s going well and what areas one’s student needs help or just needs to step up one’s efforts. The workload is cumbersome when a student chooses to use their classroom time unwisely. Most teachers put their heart into teaching here at Edgewater ; it’s up to students to do their part. The school is proactive in its discipline policy. Most students comply due to this fact. Overall, the school is a winner in my eyes compared to where our family came from.

I am a student who comes to this school, and is saying MY opinions and personal experiences from my time being here. My experience here has been mixed, I have been working hard and doing the best I can, taking several AP or advanced classes on my first year, and already I have faced several issues. Communication between teacher and students is not always clear, usually the announcements given are towards the student body or class room as a whole and not assisting specific students who may be behind (although this heavily depends on which tether a student is assigned to). Students themselves are stressed/overwhelmed, not interested in the work, or are delinquents, it is not uncommon for a student to break the rules, and in my own personal experience, have seen smokers/vapers on school grounds or walk off campus to skip class altogether with nothing stopping them. Families are almost never engaged with the school with the only communication from the school to families usually being about sports (normally football) and rarely anything of importance, and doesn't send any information on student performance. And the biggest gripe of all, mental support. I’ll try to restrain myself for if I said too much, the school's reputation would be in danger, but, to put it simply, while many members of staff are supportive, and are willing to aid someone, the fact is that by then I probably will be too late. In my own experiences with my mental health, with myself being a very visibly distressed and introverted character, I was surprised that all I got was isolation. In a specific class, where they knew about my mental situation and the dangers it poses, I was put in the corner and the teacher told everyone to keep quiet about it without me even knowing. While it is not all terrible, fights still do happen but are usually stomped out before it turns into anything serious, several officers, a wide range of opportunities and after school activities, it is simply not enough to make up for all of its issues. If you have the opportunity, you may want to reconsider this school, or if the staff is reading this, I hope you understand some of my gripes and are perhaps able to make some changes. Thank you for your time.

The administration is very disorganized, and most of the teachers have no idea what they are doing. Also, a lot of times students will have to wait outside in the halls after class bell because a teacher isn't there to let them in. Online school through Edgewater is extra difficult because some teachers simply will not show up. Even in physical school, sometimes the teachers will not show up, and students will have to wait in class doing nothing. I would not recommend this school.

The administration staff is very unprofessional. 3 days of school and a lot of students were still waiting to receive a schedule. 3 days of 0 learning just sitting waiting for the administration to put things together to give out an academic schedule to a senior.
