Read what parents are saying about Genesis Preparatory SchoolThe school is not what it used to be. It has become a business.
Posted by a parent on 1/11/2019We (like 87% of the other students who are at GPS) have been with the Genesis Schools since Pre-K I and have been very satisfied with the results. The curriculum is college prep and yes, there is quite a bit of homework however; I have found that most of the work reinforces what they learned that day & creates good study habits along the way as they get older. The school does offer plenty of support for the students to take advantage of including tutorials after school, which is great to get a jump start on the evening homework & individual tutoring is available too should anyone need the extra support...they just have to ask to have it arranged! The school does have high standards for their students, parents & teachers. There were times over the last couple of years when a few of the newer teachers weren't a "fit" for either the school and/or students & while the timing is never easy with those types of things, as a parent, I appreciate when that's recognized & resolved as quickly as possible. While the tuition is a bit high, you get what you pay for - 100% of last years graduating students attended college & 90% have received academic scholarships!
Posted by a parent on 4/3/2014This school is the best! My kids are doing very well and are getting a great education. My oldest child was graduated this year and is heading to a great university - thanks to the wonderful teachers at Genesis Prep.
Posted by a parent on 8/2/2013Genesis Prep. has established a solid reputation for the past 20 years for their academic and enrichment programs. This school is a hidden gem in Pasco County. Having had two sons with very different learning styles, I have tried everything from regular public school during the elementary years to charter middle school, FL virtual school for summer classes and even the IB program at Gulf High and can say with confidence that the educational experience at Genesis is the best. The campus, has everything: nice classrooms, athletic fields, tennis and a lovely Gym/auditorium. The teachers are very competent in their fields and have a personal interest their students succeeding and developing to their fullest potential. The student body is culturally diverse and has developed a close knit community within itself that does not discriminate or segregate. The entire campus is very welcoming and there are many programs to enhance the academic experience. Now that Dr. Missy Nurrenbrock has assumed the role of headmistress, I am sure that Genesis Prep. will get even better!
Posted by a parent on 7/29/2013My school is amazing. Genesis has some of the finest teachers and they know how to communicate with the students, the parents and with each other really helping the students find their full potential. My son had always struggled at math. When he joined they made a careful review, met with us and put together a plan which works for him. He now enjoys to go to school, works far more independently at math as well as his other subjects, and is talking about college. This community of students, teachers and parents is an amazing mix which gives the school huge depth and breadth, especially for its size. The students are very successful at athletics, put on great performances, paint murals and score state and national awards in Science fair. There is leadership potential for and respect for everyone. There were school trips to England and Italy, and lots of field trips and events. For all the things they do the school is very reasonably priced and very approachable. The Parent group and Booster Club are highly involved and full of energy. This school is really approachable, just call them, you will be pleasantly surprised.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible! And sad - this used to be a decent school that seemed to be trending up with good staff and a better grade rating. I wouldn't be surprised if this school is now rated a D or F. Most of our friends (moved) and teachers have left. Admin doesn't care, most of the staff at the front desk if horrible - there's some woman that answers the phone who I think just hates people in general. My recommendation is to find a better school. Until the district makes some major changes there it will only get worse. Not to mention the school is very old. Our kids were told not to drink the water from the fountains because it has lead in the water. There is no shade for the kids when they are in car loop waiting in 95-degree heat. Overall you just get this sense that they really don't care.Other Review4y ago - Calusa Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been bullied relentlessly at this school, she has come home with a concussion, with multiple black eyes and when it has been brought to administration i have been told "boys will be boys, maybe they like her" this is so unacceptable and i will be raising issues with this matter as high up as needed until something is done. My niece has been bullied relentlessly and her mother has been told "they have bigger fires to put out" rather than dealing with 3-4 kids jumping my niece. I will not stop until something is done!Parent Review11mo ago - Bishop Larkin Catholic School
