Sunset Elementary School

To me, La Scuola is absolutely the best school! Amazing, nature-immersed campus, with a caring and attentive staff. Children have hands on experiences with real art materials, pottery, gardening, yoga etc... my 3 year old son comes home with his clothes "dirty" everyday and I love it, because I know he had a blast. Teacher sends daily journals with pics and info about the day. I also love that they're a sugar-free school and focus on healthy eating (you can take your own lunch or buy the lunch they provide, which is REAL food, not junk food). The whole school environment and community is very welcoming and respectful, including other parents and children. They hold regular communal events, like Friendsgiving Potluck, that reinforce that feeling. Only con: communication (from the school administration, not the teachers) is not the best and they seem a bit disorganized sometimes. But what can I say, no school is perfect. All I know is that my son never wants to come home when I arrive to pick him up and complains on Saturdays and Sundays because school is closed. That's priceless!

It’s was a very hard and cruel experience! My son was expelled after six days of Summer Camp. He was three years and half, we just moved from NY to Miami. It was a difficult transition for him so he had a regression in potty training. They didn’t try to understand the situation, they didn’t try to be patient or have empathy for him. They just expelled him after 6 days of Summer Camp! I don’t know what religion values we can recognize in this action. One of the employees told me: “you will find a place that will understand your son situation”. Definitely a school that don’t understand real values, real empathy and real love for kids! Please put in perspective if it was your son. What would you do?

A great experience in PK 3 and PK 4!

Rambam boasts a beautifully designed building and top-notch security, creating a visually appealing and safe environment for students. The school's facilities and safety measures are certainly impressive.For families seeking a strong focus on Judaic studies, Rambam excels in integrating these programs into the curriculum. This commitment to Jewish education is a significant strength of the school. However, it's unfortunate that they do not offer Spanish as part of the curriculum, which is a notable drawback given Miami's diverse, multilingual community.When it comes to teaching staff, the situation is mixed. While Mrs. Calzadilla (1st grade) stands out as an exceptional educator, the overall quality of the teaching staff is lacking. The learning specialists also fall short, failing to effectively motivate students or provide the tools they need to succeed.The administration further compounds these issues with its poor handling of family concerns and student support. Families often feel unsupported, particularly those with students needing additional help. The administration’s approach has even led to the departure of over a dozen teachers, highlighting internal problems.In summary, while Rambam offers strong Judaic studies programs and impressive facilities, it struggles in areas such as teacher quality, support services, and administrative responsiveness. Prospective families should weigh these factors carefully when considering the school.
