Lake Mary Elementary School

The principal (new this year for 2023) is horrible have had multiple complaints this year and nothing gets done even escalated to the assistant superintendent of elementary schools and both demeaning and lack empathy. They don’t care what the parents need addressed. I would never recommend this school with the current principal.

My daughter didn’t have a positive learning environment at this school. This school doesn’t take bullying seriously and is easily dismissed by principal. They do promote kindness and empathy in the classrooms. They only care that you wear the color orange for anti bullying month but do absolutely nothing to address it which is concerning. Teachers belittle students and destroyed their confidence. Teachers lack patience, empathy and strategies to help students meet their learning goals. They do not differentiate learning they have a one learning style fits all learning approach. If you have a child with special needs please do yourself a favor and do not place them into this school it’s a nightmare. Principal only cares about the schools reputation and doesn’t care about students cries for help. She’s unprofessional and does absolutely nothing to address any concerns you may have in the future.

Most teachers are friendly and deal well with the students. Some are not. Have had multiple issues with teachers and my son.Front office staff leaves a lot to be desired. Often rude, and inconsiderate. They make the experience unpleasant.If you can send your kids to the school and not have to deal with the administration it's not that bad of a place. But that's impossible.

An absolute nightmare for my child. Incompetent administration, the teacher we were assigned to simply did not care. Bullying was an issue. No response from administration. It was necessary to involve outside parties. This experience drove us to home school.

I have four children that have attended this school. My daughter, who now is in 9th grade, attended all six years. My son, who is in middle school, has dyslexia and ADHD, attended all the years with the exception of 2nd grade. I have a son in third grade and a daughter in kindergarten. I have read all the reviews and all are very truthful, except for this school has gone downhill with our new principal. Before Mrs. peacock this school was ran by a tyrant. I know a harsh word, but it is very fitting. It has taken Mrs. Peacock a few years to get this school running and functioning the way it should. The Vice Principal is a wonderful fit with her and will one day make a great principal. I do not agree with a lot of the rules they are starting to enforce. I may not always express my feelings in the most positive way with the staff, but I am always allowed to voice my opinion. They take abuse and positivity every day. As parents we need to understand the difficulties they face. As the head of the school they need to learn how to discard bad ideas and come up with new solutions. Parents are their children’s best advocates, so a little more understanding in this area would be an improvement. One last thing, I have had amazing teachers and poor teachers. My sons 3rd grade teacher was the reason my son has received the help he needs. Sadly they found out to late and he had to repeat a grade. He had a new group of teachers and those teachers where the worst teachers He had. The staff for the most part loves these children. Sometimes we have had bad experiences, but overall it’s a safe school.
