Chimney Lakes Elementary School

As a military family it has been a struggle for my children to adapt to this school, after having transferred mid school year. From the lack of help of administration, to teachers telling me "it's not my job to catch your child up", I couldn't be more unhappy with this school. It's hard to get teachers and administration to communicate with you face to face and emails sometimes go unanswered.This school is very driven by state testing, not by the success of their students.

This school is truly a community elementary school. Many children bike and walk to this jewel of a school. The administration and teachers are friendly and competent. the principal is very visible and responsive. Drop off and pick up for car riders is well-organized. The curriculum is challenging. Safety is a priority with on-site officers. The enrichment programs at the school add to its value. We will be staying in this school's area until our first grader graduates.

POE is fun, educational, anti-bullying school with a wide diversity and respect towards their students. My children really love it there!

Teachers don't care to ensure their students are actually learning and understanding the naterual properly. So many lazy teachers are not teaching the students. Our children are mostly taught by all these learning apps/online learning classrooms to YouTube videos.

Communication at this school is awful. I’ve filled out 3 forms this year for my son and all of them have been lost… even the two that I personally walked into and turned in the front office. I notified them of being out of town and instead of making a note of it they threatened truancy on me. My son was sent to the school counselor because of issues he was having. I’m glad they decided to help him but I guess it became a weekly thing and I was never even notified that he was doing that. The best part of this school is the teachers. I’ve never had any issues with a teacher in the 4 years he’s attended.

We had a great experience here this year and will be returning next year. The teacher is very patient and knowledgeable. She runs an organized classroom. They follow a curriculum and post daily updates online as well as sending things home in their folders. The playground is really nice and the teachers rotate centers in the classroom each week so the children are always exposed to new information. My child comes home and can remember all the new things he has learned each day! They do chapel and stem each week, outdoor play activities daily, and have plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved (outside covid times)
