Read what parents are saying about Edison Park Creative And Expressive Arts SchoolThis school deserves more that 5/10 in ratings it’s actually rated #8/10 in the entire Lee county district and my kids absolutely love it and so do it. The grade levels have 1-3 classes per grade max which makes for better safety and they offer a lot of specialty classes that other schools dont
Posted by a parent on 9/13/2023(As of January 2023)My siblings are currently here, and they went into this school not knowing anybody and not really liking the arts. However, they are just about to graduate and are in love with dance and theater and have an insane amount of friends. The amount of exposure to the arts is unmatched, with classes like violin, dance, theater, and clubs like boys and black (dance group), handbells, cand horus. The staff here treats the entire school like family (its really small) and all kids are appreciated. I've seen this school give clothes out, help kids with struggling parents, etc. However, the one flaw here is education. They do have a gifted program, and while the teacher is amazing, there is no learning and the kids get treated harshly for being "gifted." Because the school is so tiny (3 classes per grade level) there is no ESE program, no academic help. Gifted students may be sitting next to non english speakers and kids who frequently bully them. The grading here sucks too. 70% of the grade is these IMPOSSIBLE test at the beginning of the quarter, so if you fail one of those you are screwed and no way to make it up. However, if you have a smart kid they will be fine here, and there are some pretty amazing kids in the mix.
Posted by a community member on 1/18/2023My daughter will graduate 5th grade this year, we've been at Edison since 3rd grade and have loved it. The school is so artsy and quaint. The Principal Ms. Trent is just awesome - she's approachable, understanding, patient with Parents and on the ball with bullying. The Arts program is just great, you couldn't ask for a better experience for your child to have in learning about music, drama, art and dance. Highly recommend.
Posted by a parent on 1/27/2020Such a historical/unique school which offers such different program than the traditional schools. Dance, theatre, violin, music, Technology to name a few.
Posted by a parent on 3/6/2017This is a fabulous school in all areas. My children get a great academic education mixed with the arts. The specials, art, music, strings, drama, dance and PE, make for a well-rounded educational experience. I can not imagine my children going to any other school.

Parent Review1y ago - Franklin Park Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy sons teacher has nothing but negative things to say.My son is very intelligent, nice and never gets in trouble. However you can be sure if she opens her mouth it will be to complain about something. The one time she did call about him and some other boys saying something inapopriate, she took another childs side saying , She didnt believe he had told my son to say the derrogatory word, Because He{ the other child) Is such a nice boy he is really a nice boy, i dont believe he would do something like that. Well of course later on, that boy she thinks is such an angel sent a text message to my phone you wouldnt believe.Parent Review5y ago - Hancock Creek Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child has disabilities or challenges adjusting to new settings do not enroll your child here. If you have a child on the spectrum with an IEP, do not expect them to follow it or even look at it. What you can expect is a phone call 1.5 days into your child attending kindergarten saying they exhausted all of their resources from the head ESE teacher, who admits she herself, being a resource, has not even met with your child. on that same phone call being told me we need to have an emergency iep meeting, i was expected to set up over the phone on a Friday for the following week without consulting the father of my child to make the meeting date and being told that they do not need to be in attendance or aware, it can be just you since you don’t work. She said “the person needed to sign off on the iep meeting notice is not there to sign and mail out today.” My son came home with new echolalic phrases like “you’re not a good boy” and “you’re so annoying.” the ESE teacher while on the phone with me had pulled up other schools in my area to attend. And when i ask “Are you removing him from your school?!” I was met with “we have exhausted all of our resources here.” the kindergarten teacher told me your child has to be surrounded by four adults at all times, when in reality your child needs calm direction from one person at a time to be able to understand what is expected and process direction. my child needs compassion and understanding of time needed for processing. They do not offer this there. They will ignore antecedents, cause a meltdown and escalate situations because they simply do not want to deal with a challenge or behavior and want your child gone. they will ignore and promote dysregulation of sensory sensitivities to achieve this. They will add trauma to your child and they will be bold enough to do it in front of your face. On the last day I allowed my child to be in that school, I went to pickup & principal stopped me told he was waiting in the office. When I went into the lobby I could hear him screaming crying about sand on a toy duck they gave him. I put it on the counter and asked the AP not to give it him due to sand sensitivities, she stared at me. When we were leaving she told my son after me trying to calm my son “see you tomorrow and you can have the ducks back” causing the meltdown to worsen. They bank on you not knowing your IEP rights and do not want to put in work to help kids with disabilities. Don’t choose this school.Parent Review7mo ago - Saint Francis Xavier

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe communication with the principal and teachers was poor. I got more communication about tithing for chapel or fundraisers than on the academic progress of my child. The teacher made the decision to hold my child back, even though the academic psychologist they sent us to stated this was unnecessary and detrimental to the child. They would rather hold the child back a year, then give the extra help and communication needed to help the child succeed.Parent Review4y ago - First Base Christian Academy
