Parkside Elementary School

Escola pessima,hoje tive reunião com a professora do lado de fora da escola ,a recepcionista simples pessima tambem ,não tem empatia e educação,um absurdo minha filha ter que traduzir porque a escola não tem suporte para isto ,um descaso,não recomendo essa escola .

I walk with my little girl to pick up two of her sisters from the school and one day. I forgot the pick up paper in the car. We parked the car half a mile away. The two ladies that does release would not release my children although they see me every day pick up my kids. I was in tears. The ladies made me walk with my little girl back to the car, which was half a mile away for the paper had no empathy for me. (Single mom w 3kids)I kept saying I messed up. I’m sorry. They said they couldn’t help me because it was part of their rule to have the paper even though they know that I’m the mom and I walk every single day. it was just a sad feeling to go through this experience with my kids. Into this area, everything is very new to us. this made us not welcome

Honestly my kids have been going here for 3 years. It’s not a great school. Seems like the principal and vice principal don’t know what’s going on. The vice principal (male) is definitely unprofessional! teachers and staff do as they may and are not reprimanded for not acting professional and not teaching on appropriate level of curriculum the kids are looked at as a money and not Children that need to learn. They allow your kids to be on YouTube throughout the day even if you ask them to not allow them because the have don’t have ways of blocking out inappropriate things. They just play songs all day and have them sing instead of actually learning. I spent a whole year off of work to get my children to learn and it’s now the beginning of the school year and I was told that they still don’t have a teacher available for my eldest.. its the 2024 to 2025 school year and I actually think i might just have to homeschool.. regardless of needing to work. Just cause I really don’t want my kids getting behind again. It’s really sad. Please steer clear especially if your children have autism.. they make it sound like they have good programs, but truly they don’t have good staff or teachers. They will keep your kids in ESE classes and not want to mainstream them because truly they make money off of it. Last year I quit my job to stay home and be able to be available to my children who are doing majority of their work class at home. I was able to teach both my kids to read and get them ahead.. in hopes that they wouldn’t get left behind. My youngest is now in dual language, even though we don’t speak Spanish in the house because he had nowhere else to go and he was “smart enough”. My oldest is still being held in ESE classes, even though he’s ready to go to general population because ” there isn’t enough teachers “ this is disappointing for both my kids and I.

I am a former student from Maplewood, I would like to say that most of the teachers were nice but some administration could be a little less harsh on the students. Pretty much all of my necessities were met and resources were given. I was an honor's student and the gifted program could've been somewhat better but I learned a lot and my teachers were usually very supportive and good at what they do. I overall had a great time at Maplewood Elementary.

I wish I could rate this school with no stars. They say "fish rots from the head down" and the I'm sure head of this school is the issue. Zero organization. Unprofessional communication. Complete chaos. Just take a look at the condition of the Principal's office--that's a reflection of this school. After the tour it was easy to conclude that I'd never send my children here and never recommend any child to come here.

The staff with the language barrier (first time speaking with her) bluntly told me to go find another school and hung up on me. This is after I’ve visited a couple of times, and even brought my kids in to meet with them. Did the 45 min trial, and everything went well. They told me the next step would be a phone call to arrange registration. It’s now been two weeks, class has already started, still no call. I decided to follow up, and the lady who answered said they are now full—after I was told there was space for my son. When I told her, no that can’t be right, she said well you can go find you another school since you’re not happy! Sometimes people are unaware of who they have random encounters with, and don’t realize that you have enough connections and relationships that can signal handedly ruin their reputation. If you become that agitated and hostile with a complete stranger over the phone, how can I even trust you with my child? I will for certain let all platforms, including ELC, and all the government funding know exactly how unprofessional and discriminatory I was treated today.
