Forest Hills Elementary School

This is a great school that does not always get the credit they deserve. The teachers and staff are very dedicated to the children. They create a warm, welcoming environment where the children feel like Hunt Elementary is like their second home.

My child is in their ASD cluster for a few years.Last year, my child has endured a very challenging years. I have always had great things to say but at this point I don’t have anything nice to say about thing that has transpired at the school. My child was moved around teachers and excluded from activities. When communicate issues with staff and teachers, I was met with a lack of empathy and understanding. I was just til they could not handle my child and was told to send them somewhere else. The teachers and staff do not tell the truth about what happens through the day but are very quick to call to pick up your child when they don’t want to deal with them. I am choosing to remove my child from the school because his needs were not being met and due to inappropriate handling.

I wish I could rate this school with no stars. They say "fish rots from the head down" and the I'm sure head of this school is the issue. Zero organization. Unprofessional communication. Complete chaos. Just take a look at the condition of the Principal's office--that's a reflection of this school. After the tour it was easy to conclude that I'd never send my children here and never recommend any child to come here.

The staff with the language barrier (first time speaking with her) bluntly told me to go find another school and hung up on me. This is after I’ve visited a couple of times, and even brought my kids in to meet with them. Did the 45 min trial, and everything went well. They told me the next step would be a phone call to arrange registration. It’s now been two weeks, class has already started, still no call. I decided to follow up, and the lady who answered said they are now full—after I was told there was space for my son. When I told her, no that can’t be right, she said well you can go find you another school since you’re not happy! Sometimes people are unaware of who they have random encounters with, and don’t realize that you have enough connections and relationships that can signal handedly ruin their reputation. If you become that agitated and hostile with a complete stranger over the phone, how can I even trust you with my child? I will for certain let all platforms, including ELC, and all the government funding know exactly how unprofessional and discriminatory I was treated today.

In my experience and in my opinion, It is a bad school with very poor leadership. Administration (principal, guidance counselor and curriculum coordinator) and some teachers are biased towards certain students and it is very noticeable. In this school, only a small group of students enjoy all the opportunities to be in clubs and activities (which is not much anyways) or have the priority if space is limited. Principal doesn't respond to emails or calls quickly and it is impossible to get a meeting with her. They yell to students on daily basis and give detention to students for everything and anything, always threatening them with detention. The school currently doesn't provide breakfast or lunch for the students. Good teachers don't last and some teachers are too old to teach considering it is an elementary school where kids are loud and energetic and of course that bothers them, even the administration. A Principal must be a young, energetic and full of new ideas who really like children if want to be a principal of an elementary school. A principal should always smile and have a positive attitude, always.
