Community ReviewsRead what parents are saying about Wilby High School
Students are not only disadvantaged due to this school being below state average, but are given classes that teacher's don't even come to school to teach. The students are then required to take state midterms and final exams in course work they never even received the class instruction on, which places them at risk for failure. This school is not preparing our children with the academic skills and knowledge they need succeed for post secondary education. Parents need to stand up and fight for their children's education.Posted by a parent on 12/16/2017
My child went from loving school to wanting nothing to do with it. This school is out of control, just stand in the lobby for 5 minutes, you won't believe what you see and hear.Posted by a community member on 7/31/2016

Waterbury Schools are changing, and are fighting for change. Especially this school in particular. You can see the effort the staff is doing to make their students succeed. I appreciate that in almost every way. And because of that, Wilby is becoming a greater institution of learning more than ever. I just wish the %40 of other students are willing to change too.Posted by a student on 3/29/2011

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can not say enough positive things about this school. The staff is very well qualified. There is not a high turn around. I have had four children in the school over the past 12 years and 90 percent of the teachers from 12 years ago are still there. That says alot. The new principal is very motivated and has lots of great ideas for the school that she has been working on. There are monthly family night activities as well as meetings. Family involvement is a big part of the cirriculum. My oldest is now in the soar program at Kennedy and will soon be applying to colleges such as MIT, Stanford, and Carnegie Melon. I am proud to say that Bunker Hill is where he got his great start.Parent Review6y ago

- Sprague School
2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school looks good on paper, however, in practice they have really bad tendencies, and communication is the biggest of all. They do not give advance notice for anything, it is always at the last minute. They do not handle parental concerns well, and there are no uniform policies with regards to disciplinary actions taken.Parent Review3y ago

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attends 2nd grade at Carrington. He loves it. The staff is in sync with the students. They have really get to know your child. They set small goals which feel like huge goals to young children. So when the meet that goal they feel like they have reached the top of the world. It also helps that this school sits in a very nice neighborhood where neighbors look out for each other. When everyone is involved in a positive manner it shows.Parent Review2y ago
