Read what parents are saying about Rowayton SchoolThe teachers and staff are wonderful, and new leadership is enthusiastic and promising. PTA is engaged. Overall, Rowayton is a great school for early education, but more could be done for TRUE inclusivity amongst diverse families.
Posted by a parent on 8/31/2017My daughter transferred here in the middle of 1st grade. When she was having difficulty adjusting, they called me in and had a plan on how to turn this around. Every time I've called a specialist about something they've always gotten back to me. The teachers have been involved and truly seem to care about the progress of each child. Any bullying I've come across has been addressed swiftly. I'm excited about continuing on with my second child in this school.
Posted by a community member on 2/24/2017The problem with all public schools is they rely on town funding and how towns support their schools and this is where the problems are with this school. They avoided putting my son on a IEP plan for years as it would cost more and then they let us down badly at the end of our time here because of money, so care and consideration of each pupil is secondary. Teachers are well meaning but many lack enthusiasm!
Posted by a community member on 1/19/2017Great, caring teachers. Only school in district to have a before school academic program (Rowayton Academy). Involved parents and PTA. Overall, very nurturing school within a wonderful community. School provides an excellent education for our kids!

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two children at Hindley Elementary a girl going into 2nd grade and a boy going into 5th. Our 3 years at the school have been amazing so far. The community is very tight nit and very close with the faculty. From before and after school programs, to choir and orchestra the programs are amazing. The kids take great pride in the school and are often decked out in Hindley-gear. The PTO also does an amazing job as my wife is heavily involved and nominated to be co-chair in 2016-17. Rita Ferri has been a tremendous asset to the school but she is retiring this year. Hopefully the incoming principal can fill her shoes.Other Review7y ago - Royle Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is rapidly going imploding with their horrible response to the COVID virus. Their remote schooling was implemented poorly for 2020-2021 and they actively tried to embarrass and ridicule the remote learners by facing the camera and tv on the other children so that they were on display for the class to see as some strange kid.During the recent BOE meeting for 2021-2022 school year, I was horrified. Every parent that spoke was fiercely against the state's mask mandate and it was clear as day the pressure they were putting on the district's physician to permit a local option that would not require masks.Darien is a horrible city in that it is filled with horrible people that not only support the right-wing fascist movement in the US and wear it with a badge of honor.Ask yourself, would you want your child being taught in a school that rejects science?Parent Review2y ago
