Read what parents are saying about Brookside Elementary SchoolI never never never sent my kid to that school again!!! worst school worst teacher ever! We went to special ed. program with this school and that was a joke. Teacher had no idea what is special ed. is about. I was really upset all the time and we decided to move. I really don't recommend this school!
Posted by a parent on 11/17/2015My eldest has attended since Pre-K and has had 3 very productive years at this school. His teachers have been both nurturing and encouraging while inspiring a desire to learn and grow. He has been on multiple educational field trips and attended interesting assemblies. I found parents of older children welcoming and very open to giving advice and sharing information. My son has enjoyed his experience there.
Posted by a parent on 6/19/2014My school is a wonderful, nurturing environment where all 3 of my children have thrived (one still in 4th grade). It's a family-oriented diverse community where the staff go the extra mile to help ensure your child's success. My older children were well prepared to enter middle school, academically and socially.
Posted by a parent on 5/1/2014Brookside Elementary is a great place. Children are treated with respect and they give it back. The tachers are willing to do extra for the kids anytime. Mr. Hay is the most wonderful proncipal. Brookside is an important part of the neighborhood.
Posted by a parent on 4/30/2014Brookside has great children and a staff that cares about them. There are many opportunities for children before and after school. There are 3 pre school classes available to children of Norwalk. The building was renovated in the early 2000s and it is bright and collorful.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAmazing neighborhood school, where the kids academics and creativity get room to grow. It has a state of the art new library/media room with a full-time member of staff that introduces and challenges the children with projects on STEAM. As a parent of a child who needs special social and emotional support the school went over and above making sure that the child had the support and an effective framework to flourish within.Parent Review2y ago - Jefferson Magnet School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal and vice principal are wonderful, approachable, and put their best foot forward to ensure the students' success. I am very pleased with the changes that have been made over the last few years and look forward to my child graduating from his 5th grade class in a couple of years! The teachers are also awesome here! They love their students and bond well with the parents (at least in our case).Parent Review1y ago - Side By Side Charter School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have a son who is mildly on the spectrum. The team has helped him progress tremendously. They know my son equally as well as we the parents do. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for their work are terrific. Frequent meeting and detailed reporting has helped gauge his progress. Kudos to Jacalyn's team.Parent Review7mo ago - Royle Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is rapidly going imploding with their horrible response to the COVID virus. Their remote schooling was implemented poorly for 2020-2021 and they actively tried to embarrass and ridicule the remote learners by facing the camera and tv on the other children so that they were on display for the class to see as some strange kid.During the recent BOE meeting for 2021-2022 school year, I was horrified. Every parent that spoke was fiercely against the state's mask mandate and it was clear as day the pressure they were putting on the district's physician to permit a local option that would not require masks.Darien is a horrible city in that it is filled with horrible people that not only support the right-wing fascist movement in the US and wear it with a badge of honor.Ask yourself, would you want your child being taught in a school that rejects science?Parent Review2y ago
