Mountain View Elementary School

Ryan Elementary is a really special place, where everyone is unified with the same goal, to make the best educational experience possible for each and every child. We choice-enrolled both of our sons into Ryan Elementary, and had a uniformly positive experience. The teachers at Ryan are superb--they know those kids and what each one needs to do their best, and they genuinely care about each kid's learning and well-being as an entire individual. Time and again, I observed teachers and staff going above and beyond, working together to figure out how to improve their teaching, even when they were already doing a great job. Ryan is a supportive environment, where the staff hold themselves to high standards and keep the kids' best interests front and center. I was particularly impressed by the way that the teachers, paras, and social-emotional experts were able to tailor their services to students with varied needs--kids on IEPs or special ed needs, kids with Advanced Learning Plans or who were identified as gifted and talented, and kids who had strengths in areas that were in areas outside of the traditional core academic areas, like music and art. Principal Kristi Shaner is a strong and responsive leader, who effectively seeks out and balances feedback from her staff, parents, and objective data about students' performance and how that compares to district and state-level performance. Ryan is a gem; Westminster residents are lucky to have access to the school and those of us in neighboring communities are lucky to be able to choice into the school. They do so much with a modest budget and despite Jeffco's relatively poor teacher salaries. I would enroll my kids there again, in a heartbeat, and count myself fortunate to have been a part of their community.

This school is incredible. I slid by not being very involved because my older kid gets by with no trouble. Second kid, had a lot of challenges. At the beginning of the school year I have watched my son go from kindergarten reading level to 4th grade in one year. Ive seen them escort kids back to safety, approach vehicles lurking around the school. So many things that have really just changed our lives for the better. I see how involved the staff is in the kids life and im super proud to say my children went to centennial. I hope the middle and highschool can match this level if amazing!!! My child has been a student here for 2 years and has enjoyed their experience so far. The teachers spend time helping students and foster their creativity. The administration and PTO really cares about the student community and their families.

We are a few months into attending Aspen Creek, and are very impressed so far. From my boys' teachers, to the support staff, to admin, we could not be happier. I feel like I have a good handle on what they're up to during those 8 hours of the day, which was not the case at our previous school. Communication is thorough, from a leadership standpoint to the daily happenings in the classroom. We recieve frequent emails from staff, and my kids' Friday folders have almost weekly (SEL) Second Step curriculum for families to focus, along with worksheets, art projects and forms so we better understand what they're learning about and how to support them. I love the strong connection between school and home, and am so grateful for the wonderful leadership at the helm. We are so hopeful for the future of this school, as it has undergone a lot of change the last decade. We have a 3, 6, and 9 year old and are committed to the successs of this school and know it's possible given the top knotch staff who currently work there!

There is no perfect school, but I work in a profession that requires me to visit schools across the Denver area, and I am so thankful for where my daughter is, at Flatirons. She’s pushed, but also supported. We’ve had lots of good conversations with teachers and her friend group has been wonderful.
