Kohl Elementary School

Ryan Elementary is a really special place, where everyone is unified with the same goal, to make the best educational experience possible for each and every child. We choice-enrolled both of our sons into Ryan Elementary, and had a uniformly positive experience. The teachers at Ryan are superb--they know those kids and what each one needs to do their best, and they genuinely care about each kid's learning and well-being as an entire individual. Time and again, I observed teachers and staff going above and beyond, working together to figure out how to improve their teaching, even when they were already doing a great job. Ryan is a supportive environment, where the staff hold themselves to high standards and keep the kids' best interests front and center. I was particularly impressed by the way that the teachers, paras, and social-emotional experts were able to tailor their services to students with varied needs--kids on IEPs or special ed needs, kids with Advanced Learning Plans or who were identified as gifted and talented, and kids who had strengths in areas that were in areas outside of the traditional core academic areas, like music and art. Principal Kristi Shaner is a strong and responsive leader, who effectively seeks out and balances feedback from her staff, parents, and objective data about students' performance and how that compares to district and state-level performance. Ryan is a gem; Westminster residents are lucky to have access to the school and those of us in neighboring communities are lucky to be able to choice into the school. They do so much with a modest budget and despite Jeffco's relatively poor teacher salaries. I would enroll my kids there again, in a heartbeat, and count myself fortunate to have been a part of their community.

I’ve had two students attend Mountain View Elementary K-5. The staff and admin have been amazing, supportive, engaging and so much more. With it being the community feeder school for the deaf and hard and hearing the school is inclusive and students have the opportunity to learn American Sign Language. The school has a fantastic community. Highly recommend MVE!

We recently moved to Colorado and couldn’t be happier with Birch. It has a wonderful and engaged principal . Teachers really care about their students and live in the community. Parents are involved and engaged. It’s a school where most kids walk or bike daily. My 1st and 3rd grader have really thrived here

This school gives a false impression of diversity and has poor and under qualified leadership. I have reported the principal Ms. Williams to Boulder Valley School District about her lack of safety concerns during dismissal and pick up times which included harassing neighbors getting violent towards parents feeling they are too close and or may be blocking their driveway, traffic jams, ample no parking zones nearby school and pick up protocols that exclude certain grades that the principal refuses to fix making taking your child to school unsafe. School playground is in front of school and not fully gated anyone including “stranger danger” could walk up to the school while children are playing at recess. There was a clear distinction in certain ethnic groups not celebrated in the school despite the misleading decoration of flags from other countries when you walk in the lobby. This school will hold your child back based on age and grade not their true education performance levels. Curriculum is not challenging, no homework and does not embrace diversity and inclusion amongst peers. However, plenty of dress up like the principal days and wear certain outfits to school. Although this is a new school building and may appeal to parents it needs new leadership. As an actual licensed educator myself I am giving an honest review that Emerald Elementary School is not academically competitive nor the principals leadership comparable to high performing schools. Hopefully the district starts to hold this school accountable.

After 9 years at Nativity Faith and Reason, with our youngest now entering 4th grade, I can confidently say this school has been an incredible foundation for our family.Our older children have gone on to Holy Family High School and even college, and Nativity prepared them exceptionally well. Holy Family is known for its academic rigor, and each of our kids stepped in ready to meet that challenge with confidence.But what truly sets Nativity apart is the community. Our children formed some of their closest, lasting friendships here—and so did we as parents. From welcome back ice cream socials to parent parties, volunteering, field trips, and the annual gala, there are so many opportunities to connect and be involved.It’s a faith-filled, supportive environment that has shaped our family in meaningful ways. We are incredibly grateful to be part of the Nativity community.
