Read what parents are saying about St. Patrick's Episcopal Day SchoolAn amazing place, a true community of kindness. We transitioned from the public school to St Patrick's and have been thrilled for both the academic rigor, as well as the culture and spiritual and social mentoring of our child.
Posted by a parent on 10/28/2023St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School in Thousand Oaks feels like a second home for my kids. Their mission to 'inspire and equip children to courageously transform the world' isn't just a saying—it's the heartbeat of the school. The teachers here are incredibly dedicated; they know each child personally and go the extra mile to nurture their unique potential. It's like each student has their own cheerleading squad, urging them to reach for the stars. The Service Learning curriculum is something special. It’s not just about textbooks and tests; it’s about teaching the kids to care for their community and showing them they can make a positive impact in the world. My children have not only grown academically but have also become more compassionate individuals. There's a variety of cool clubs for the kids to dive into. My children have loved being part of Sports Club, choir, and Lego robotics. It’s amazing to see them excited to go to school every day, whether they are looking forward to a science project, a sports club meeting, or a community service activity. The school’s performance in objective, standardized testing is top-notch, and it’s clear that the students here are getting a solid academic foundation. But what warms my heart the most is the school’s emphasis on kindness, community, and making a difference. The communication from the school is just right—informative but not overwhelming. And as a parent, I’ve always felt welcomed to contribute to the school community, be it through hosting events or supporting fundraising initiatives. The environment at St. Patrick's is vibrant and inclusive. It’s a place where every child can feel at home and thrive. Every day, my kids are excited about school, and as a parent, seeing that enthusiasm is priceless.I would love for more families to discover this gem in Thousand Oaks. I highly recommend visiting St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School to see how this nurturing, academically stimulating, and values-driven school can be the right place for your child to flourish and grow.

I am delighted to share our family's overwhelmingly positive experience at St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School. My daughter attended St. Patrick's from second through sixth grade, and I can confidently say that her time there was exceptional. From the moment we first stepped through the doors, we were welcomed into a warm and nurturing community that values academic excellence, creativity, and character development. St. Patrick's dedicated faculty and staff provided a rigorous and engaging curriculum and created a supportive environment that helped my daughter flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.I wholeheartedly recommend St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School to any parent seeking a high-quality, supportive, and enriching educational experience for their child. Our family will forever cherish the memories and lessons gained during our time there.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis campus has a specialized program for students with social/emotional difficulties and has been locking these children into seclusion rooms for years as punishment. This happened to my child and after witnessing the bruises on her arms I started to investigate. She only attended 28 days before I pulled her out and hired an attorney. Unfortunately she spent many hours locked into these padded cells “the blue room” with a male adult for crying at morning drop-offs. None of the other parents who had their little kids in this program even knew these rooms existed! I sure wasn’t shown these rooms when I toured this whole campus before transferring my daughter here. These campuses are at risk.Parent Review3y ago - Ladera Stars Academy

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot say enough good things about Ladera! My son has been going to this school since kindergarten. We has Autism and started out in their Special Education Class and by 3rd grade was fully mainstreamed into General Education. He is a whole different child from when he was first diagnosed, and I credit a lot of it to the support Ladera has given him. He will be starting 5th grade in the next few weeks, and I am very sad it will be his last year at Ladera. The teachers are all amazing as is all the support staff.Parent Review8mo ago - Liberty Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student who attended SPBS for nine years I would not recommend this school to anyone. At my time at SPBS, I received a subpar education especially in Math and Science. The school has not updated their curriculum in YEARS which causes its students to fall behind when they enter high school. You're better off sending your child to a public school and saving all that money and time as the school requires mandatory parental volunteering. Another issue that this school has is a severe lack of diversity and tolerance towards other cultures. The bullying and exclusion culture is quite prevalent and the faculty does little to nothing to prevent it from happening. I faced quite a lot of bullying especially in middle school at SPBS and it left me with self-esteem and confidence issues well after my time at St. Paschals. They are a so called "Catholic school" with the teachers often ignoring the tennents of Christianity. This school also has a toxic parent culture with teachers preferring kids whose parents are on PTSA or in the parish's Men's club. The Parish pastor and principal refuse to acknowledge the bullying issue in their school and often side with the offenders. I wouldn't wish any other child to face what I faced there.Other Review3w ago - First Baptist Accelerated Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHow this school has not been on our radar before this year is beyond me. It is an absolute GEM and our children thrive here. They focus on character and don't just 'talk the talk' but also walk the walk. The principles of family, faith, and character are what is so needed today, and it is taught in ways that are subtle, yet meaningful. The pride in their work after the day and the things they share with us is beyond anything I could have wished for in my kids as people, and academically. They do not teach to the masses, but instead tailor to your child and where they are in their education journey. We have an older daughter at a large christian high school, and this school would have been exactly what we wanted for her to prepare for that. Education is huge for us, along with faith and family, and our kids are not getting lost in worksheets, but rather challenged exactly where they are in their own journey and are growing in their faith. They also focus on self-accountability, a lost art with kids today. They believe in work, hard work, and taking accountability for your actions. We love this school so much, and will share on every review platform we can, because this place is unlike any other. They take the kids on real-world experiences to grow their understanding of the community around them. It is such a blessing after so many places in the area that simply have the bright and shiny, yet lose their kids and focus in the sea of keeping up with the Jones's. THANK YOU to the Academy for what they are/have done for our family, it is refreshing, and we could not be happier.Parent Review8mo ago - Montessori of the Oaks

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat school with extraordinary teachers! The teachers here really care about the students. They take the time to go over progress and concerns with parents and make individualized suggestions based on the same. The scores and academics speak for themselves in that arena.
