King (Starr) Elementary School

We want to share our experience to help other parents considering Daniel Webster Elementary. Our child was exposed to hostile comments from multiple staff members, and peer bullying happens frequently. The school took very little action to address these problems, and our concerns were often dismissed or ignored.Many staff, including teachers and noon monitors, frequently raise their voices at students, creating a tense and intimidating environment. Teachers appear disengaged, and there is little communication or accountability when problems occur. The new principal does not show the same level of care or leadership that we’ve seen at other schools—she rarely checks in or follows up on student issues. The overall environment feels unstructured and poorly managed, almost as if no one is truly in charge. Our child often felt anxious and unsafe while at school.Although the school advertises a “wellness center,” it seems to exist mainly to take funding from parents to pay staff, rather than providing meaningful support for students’ emotional well-being.

Moscone is an amazing school. The kids feel safe and excited. The kids, teachers and parents all work together to create a safe community environment.

Absolutely disappointing! This school should get shutdown!I had my son there for 3rd and 4th. 3rd grade was during the pandemic so I couldn't really tell how the school was being ran. 4th grade I got to see it for myself and I immediately applied to another school for his 5th grade. The kids have zero discipline there. Non-stop bullying. No emphasis on academic education.

We have two kids at Flynn and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. What makes Flynn stand out isn’t just the Spanish immersion program, which has been incredible, but the strong, supportive community and the many ways the school goes above and beyond for its students.One of my children has an IEP, and I’ve felt so well-supported in ensuring they have what they need to thrive. The staff has been responsive and collaborative, and it’s clear they genuinely care about each child’s success. Flynn also has a lot of dedicated support staff, which makes a huge difference. From the resource teachers to the specialists, there’s a real team approach to making sure all students feel included and are set up to succeed.The school also prioritizes social and emotional learning. My older child has benefited from social skills groups and loves being part of the Pride Club, a space where students can feel supported and celebrated. Events like Field Day are highlights for both of my kids, bringing the whole school together for fun and connection.Flynn’s PTA is another major strength. Parents work hard to bring so much to the school, from cultural celebrations and teacher appreciation to community-building events like movie nights and coffee chats. The PTA also advocates for the school’s needs, which has led to improvements like clean water advocacy and tutoring programs.Flynn isn’t perfect, but the sense of community here is really special. If you’re looking for a school with a welcoming vibe, a commitment to inclusion, and a team of people ready to support every child, I’d definitely recommend taking a tour. You’ll see why we feel lucky to be part of Flynn.

My daughter and I came into this school to see if the school was the right fit for my daughter, My daughter is dyslexic. I had heard missed reviews of the school but thought we would give the school a try. At first glance staff was great and children very friendly. Principal not so much. The principal informed me my daughter would have to take and assesment to see what grade my daughter would place in. I informed principal of my daughters learning difference and social emotional struggles because she had been bullied due to her learning difference. My daughter is very quiet and had a hard time warming up to principal. Principal was completely rude and disrespectful to my daughter, a child! How dare she. Principal: “do you even know anything,” “You should know this by now!” What is wrong with this lady has she ever heard of a child with a learning difference or does she know how to speak to children. She completely caused by daughter confidence to completely drop. How do I regret not listening to the negatives I had heard of this school and all related to the principal and how she picks favorites. I have heard of bullying. Why is this woman in charge of a school? I encourage children and families that have been victims of this woman to speak up. Children should be treated with respect and reassurance. This woman should not be in charge of a school!
