Read what parents are saying about St. Anthony Immaculate ConceptionMy daughter and I came into this school to see if the school was the right fit for my daughter, My daughter is dyslexic. I had heard missed reviews of the school but thought we would give the school a try. At first glance staff was great and children very friendly. Principal not so much. The principal informed me my daughter would have to take and assesment to see what grade my daughter would place in. I informed principal of my daughters learning difference and social emotional struggles because she had been bullied due to her learning difference. My daughter is very quiet and had a hard time warming up to principal. Principal was completely rude and disrespectful to my daughter, a child! How dare she. Principal: “do you even know anything,” “You should know this by now!” What is wrong with this lady has she ever heard of a child with a learning difference or does she know how to speak to children. She completely caused by daughter confidence to completely drop. How do I regret not listening to the negatives I had heard of this school and all related to the principal and how she picks favorites. I have heard of bullying. Why is this woman in charge of a school? I encourage children and families that have been victims of this woman to speak up. Children should be treated with respect and reassurance. This woman should not be in charge of a school!

Posted by a parent on 10/2/2020My daughter is well into her 3rd year at the school. She loves her teachers and the program. As a parent I am very satisified with her educational progress and spiritual development. The classes are 15-20, which fosters an atmosphere where student s get maximum attention. I truly feel that our family is in a partnership with my daughters teacher, ensuring positive results. As a parent I am very appreciative of the amount of feedback I receive. The school is located on C. Chavez about 6 blocks from Freeway 101, making it esy to get to for parents that commute up the peneisula or work in downtown S.F. We even have families coming from the East Bay. If you think you might be interested, I would encourage you to contact the office for a tour. The school also offers a Dolphin for a day program that allows your child to shadow the class they would be in for a half day.
Posted by a parent on 2/26/2015What can I say...SAIC has things going for it that no other school in The Mission does. It's small, but this has been an advantage to my son who has gotten so much attention and help. A few things I really like about SAIC are: -Great Teachers (The jr. high teachers know the high school system inside and out-talk with Mr. Terrizzi) -Amazing Drumline -iPad Band -Speech Team -iPads/Computers for all students -Sense of Community -Easy bus location -Safe neighborhood Go Dolphins!
Posted by a parent on 5/13/2014I was really impressed when I saw their jr. high drumline play at the Riordan Varsity basketball game. I talked to the 8th graders and they told me some of the books they had read, and some were the same that my high school son is reading! Really glad my nephew is at this school.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had such high hopes for this school, but unfortunately our experience was incredibly horrible. Our son attended the elementary school for 2 years, and did not learn anything during this time. And by anything, I mean he did not advance a single grade level and actually regressed. In fact, on the last day when we brought home his school supplies, his notebooks were completely empty. This should have been a red flag for us, but we hung in there and tried again for a second year thinking it would get better. Since leaving the school, he has advanced significantly and is performing at or above his grade level. KMS is progressive (which is one reason why we fell in love with it in the first place) and allow the children to choose what they want to learn. This all sounds great, however in actuality the children are left for themselves to roam the school building doing whatever they please. If they don't want to do work, they don't have to do any work. The teachers do not have control over the classes and the children run the show (I have seen this first hand.) There is nothing good about KMS elementary school. The preschool and after school care works well because they basically are just babysitters for your children. If you want your children to actually learn something at school, this place is not for you.Parent Review3y ago - Synergy School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI vividly recall my 1st tour of Synergy. There was laughter and smiles from children in the halls and play spaces. It felt airy and vibrant at the same time. Children’s art lined the walls, there were posters of banned books hung upstairs, and there was a presentation of a recent trip to Nicaragua. And, I thought, YES, this is the school for my son! However, the most prominent sensation I felt while I toured Synergy was the sense of safety. This stands out because I never experienced feeling safe in school. I was born and raised in SF’s southeast and I attended SF’s public schools at the height of the crack epidemic. My community witnessed the devastating effect of addiction, violence, grief, and constant loss. Research shows that it’s hard to learn when you feel scared… My son and I still live in the southeast. The same schools that I attended surround us. In my heart, I knew he needed to experience a different way of learning. I was thrilled beyond words when Synergy accepted us.My son started Synergy as a shy and sensitive child. But I could tell, he felt safe here too. He felt safe to explore, to mess up, to speak up, to get dirty, to laugh, and to be sad and scared, as we all felt in the last few years. All this, he was able to experience in community with you all. Today, I have witnessed the beauty of him blossoming and transforming into a confident young brown man. Tremendously held by a solid foundation that Synergy provides, from its agreements, to teachers and staff, to mixed grade learning, and of course, by his posse of friends, who he considers family. What a blessing it is to be part of the Synergy family. It is our hope that other families also experience the beauty of watching their child thrive in their own unique way, in the amazing urban sanctuary that Synergy is for us.Parent Review1y ago
