I strongly recommend this school, even tho it has very low ratings. Barrett Elementary is a school on the outskirts of Silicon Valley. This means that the students are mixed: some come from high-income tech families, while others (more than half of the students) come from low-income families. Since

Posted by a parent on 11/15/2018Students perform well academically but I do notice that the school does have a hard time getting parents to become involved. The school support staff needs improvement especially in the area of communication whether it's a parent or a student.

My daughter new just the alphabet when she came here 5 months later she is reading books, name signs when we drive and subtittles on tv! She

I have seen my son grow into a confident, intelligent young boy in just his first year. We moved an hour south to live in Gilroy, to be able to send our child to oakwood. It is a decision that I am so glad I made!My niece who is entering 4th grade goes to oakwood as well. I have seen her THRIVE!! She is so intelligent, academically focused and well rounded. Every year she amazes me. Oakwood really helps each student be their best and reach their potential. It is the most positive and supportive environment I have seen. The school would do nothing to help us or correct the situation because they said there kids did nothing wrong.
