Janie P. Abbott Elementary School

This is my 4yr, and we started off a bit rocky w/ the leadership, but our current principal, I'm extremely excited about what's to come.

Bullying is bad at this school the staff does nothing to protect the children or offer support. The school bathroom had racial slurs graffiti in the bathroom. The school base its education on test scores and less on classroom curriculum. I don't suggest this school to anyone if they want their children to blossom or feel safe.

The PUSD Virtual Academy is ran through this school. My daughter was not included in the June 2, 23 8th grade virtual academy awards due to retaliation and discrimination from the ELA teacher at the virtual academy awards. She held hate againt my daughter just because I spoke that she didn't handle emails and call request for a parent conference, basically ignored everyhing, plus this virtual academy didn't provide a science teacher for most of the school year and was still asking for students to take the CAT test. I declined for my daughter to test on a subject she did not receive classes for. The ELA teacher, who only had 7 ELA students in her class, had no right to exclude my daughter from receiving her academic awards on June 2nd, but for hate, retaliation and discrimination, she purposely didn't print my daughters awards for the A's she received in Science, Social Studies and Math. Unfortunately, the director of this school Robin Padget saw no wrong doing and actually protected this bad teacher, saying she did nothing wrong. Shame on her for supporting this evil act on her behalf. Even more shame on the ELA teacher, for even calling herself a teacher. Retaliation belongs on the minds of a gang member, and unfortunately this teacher brings this mentality to this school. Very sickening individuals.

I am very happy with my experience my children have had. PUSD does a good job when it comes to their curriculum and motivating kids to do their best. Ms. Hennessy, Mr. Maldonado, Ms. Harsh (now Ms. Mora), Ms Garrett, and all the staff thank you for all you do.

I am so very proud that my kids can attend Clinton. The principal Dr. White is always interacting with the kids and make herself available when parents need her too. She is always smiling and seems very high energy. I watched her standing after school yesterday waving to the kids in every single school bus as the buses left to take the kids home. It was the most kind thing I have ever seen a principal do! Wish I had a principal like her when I was in school. I had to tell my wife about it because it says a whole lot about how much she loves her students and the work she does. The teachers are very serious about learning and try hard to make sure students do well. I wish more parents could volunteer. It makes me sad to read a complaint because I know those people probably don't know much about the school and probably never gives effort to get involved positively. It's not just the teachers or principals responsibility but all of our job to raise and educate our kids. Some people want the school to do everything. Our kids do well because we work positively with the school and stay involved. We love it here and are so happy that the principal took a risk to get the school changed to go to 8th grade. Now our kids can stay in this good place longer and continue to learn and thrive. Did I mention that the school has a technology focus which my kids are always talking about.
