St. Lawrence of Brindisi Elementary School

Let’s making something clear, this school cares about one thing and one thing only, data. Your child’s academic success? Forget it. Your child’s emotional well being? Forget it. The place is notorious for losing staff members of all kind, specifically teachers. There is absolutely zero support from admin who repeatedly break union rules, rules that are in place to not only protect teachers but the students. On top of breaking their rules the school is consistently fighting the union and pushing out the representatives (there have been 3 for the 2023-2024 school year alone.) The principals contract is with Partnership for Los Angeles and not the Los Angeles Unified school District, due to this there seems to be a complete disregard and lack of respect for the guidelines and rules the district has in place. I truly could go on but my main piece of advice is whether you are looking for employment or student enrollment here, run, and run FAR away.

Hello! I attended school here from the mid-90s to the early 2000s, and my experience at 92nd was truly special. I had teachers who genuinely cared about my education and provided the support I needed. Despite the challenges of the area, I learned the importance of being caring, loving, and respectful. This school fostered a deep appreciation for the passion my teachers had for their work. Although I had to move before I could graduate, 92nd will always hold a special place in my heart, filled with cherished memories of my childhood that I will never forget. Thank you, 92nd, for everything!

So many program available that parent/student don’t take advantage of. The minute the program is pulled then they complain. There are no serious consequences for students misbehaving/fighting; they are talked to and sent back to class. Students are constantly fighting and bullying each other with no serious consequences. It’s difficult for teacher’s to teach with constant classroom behavior problems and too many kids that can’t read at grade level, which is one of the reason for the behaviors. Also. Mostly Magnet kids parents are involve but the rest of the school parent aren’t so much. I see more parents at the Halloween carnival than at parent conferences or back to school night...smh.

This school has a serious problem with student safety. Bullying is common, and staff often don’t step in or address it properly. Supervision seems lacking, and students can get hurt without anyone stopping it. I don’t feel this school provides a safe environment for kids, and improvements are urgently needed.
