Posted by a parent on 1/30/2014The Good: My son has had FANTASTIC kindergarten and first grade teachers! In fact, I've never heard a complaint about any of the teachers from other parents. The school has many activities to make it feel like a community, i.e. Father/Daughter, Mommy/Son Dances. They have a good selection of library

My child was being abused and bullied by other students and he cried and was begging not to take him to school because of the bully and he’s only in first grade. His teacher didn’t care to do anything. And when I report to the school they didn’t care as well and didn’t offer a solution. I decided to move my house to a different area so I can take my kid out of this school. Later on the year few days before I change his school he had an award ceremony. I attend the award ceremony for my child and every time his teacher walks by my child would be terrified. Until now to this day my child is still traumatized and I have no idea what happened in school, and what has happened to my child that he got so scared of school, when he used to love going to school. No one cares and no one will offer to even help. If you want your child in a safe school and coming home safely without any injuries and without any trauma then go to a different school. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to Hemlock when I was in 1st-5th grade (from the 2019-2020 school year to the 2023-2024 school year) I don't go here anymore but when I went here it was ok-ish. I learned what I needed to, but sometimes teachers can be a bit rude. In my 5th grade year, a girl was crying because our teacher yelled at her because she didn't understand a problem. When she finally answered the question correctly, she went back to her seat crying. Our teacher then went to her and told her, "I know that you're sad about this but I do not care at all." Hopefully things will be able to improve with the new Elementary School opening in the next few years. There are too many kids, and not enough support.
