We have spent a whole year here at Jefferson since boundary changes sent us from Clovis Elementary to here! We are unsatisfied with the year the kids have had. Kids here are rude and know more than kids their age should know. My kids have not made any best friends this year because they are so much different than the kids here. Fitting in has been terrible. Unfortunately we will likely have to buy a new house like the other reviews stated since they aren’t accepting transfers back to the school we were at before. My kids and myself are more than disappointed after giving this school entire year!!! The teachers are great but they were learning way more stuff at their old school. I feel my kids staying at this school will be behind once junior high hits.

Unfortunately, my experience with Cedarwood Elementary has been extremely disappointing. From the principal to the front office staff, the overall attitude has felt unwelcoming, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude. As a parent, you should feel that your concerns are being heard and taken seriously, but that has not been my experience.The principal’s attitude has been particularly frustrating. Rather than feeling like parents are treated as partners in their child’s education, I have often felt brushed off and as though my concerns were an inconvenience.The office staff have also left a lot to be desired. Communication has been poor, responses to questions and emails have been lacking, and when you do finally get a response, it can feel very short and dismissive. A school office should be one of the most welcoming parts of an elementary school, especially when parents are coming forward with legitimate concerns about their children.Another concern is the impression that there is a tremendous amount of emphasis placed on fundraising and PTC activities. From a parent’s perspective, it can feel like fundraising and bringing money into the school are prioritized over actually listening to and addressing parents’ concerns. Parents should not feel like their value to the school is based on how much they can contribute financially.I expected much better from an elementary school. Children spend a significant portion of their day here, and parents deserve to feel respected, listened to, and welcomed when communicating with the school.Overall, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience. Cedarwood Elementary has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to communication, professionalism, parent relations, and creating a welcoming environment for families.

My 5th grader was assigned an instrument that wasn’t going to work for us. I went into the office and Shannon was so helpful and patient with me. She helped me get in contact with the band and orchestra teachers. After she sent the email to them, within maybe an hour or sooner I was contacted by the orchestra teachers, Emily. She was so fantastic and accommodating. I was able to switch my child and she was able to secure an instrument for him that same day. I just wanted to write about my experience because it was simply wonderful. Whenever I go into the office they are always helpful to me and nice. I don’t want it to go unnoticed. The teachers for my students have been stellar as well. My kids love it here. Getteysburg is a great school!

My kids have been enrolled here since 2019. We had an amazing upgrade with Principal since they moved Dr Vue to the district office and brought in Mrs Torres. She truly loves the kids and cares about their safety as well as creating fun experiences to give them lifetime memories. My son is finishing his 6th grade year and has had an amazing education here. My only negative comment would be that they don’t acknowledge academic awards during school awards, they just hand them certificates for good grades in the classroom. It would be nice to acknowledge hard work in front of everyone instead of only acknowledging behavioral awards. With that being said it would also be nice if K-3rd were allowed to give more awards. They are limited to only 2 kids per award which is kind of a smack in the face to kids who are always performing well and they don’t always get acknowledged for it. I’m not an “everyone gets an award” parent but I do believe if the kids are doing what is expected of them they deserve the acknowledgement to reinforce the positive behavior. We are moving out of state at the end of this school year though because we can see the insanity of CA starting to creep into our little corner of Clovis. I also do not want to send my kids to Clark for 7th/8th grade. Overall my kids have done amazing here and their favorite teachers have been Mr Brown (5th grade) and Mrs Alaman (2nd grade, both of my kids have been blessed to be in her class).
