Read what parents are saying about Carson Junior High SchoolMy child tripped, fell, and broke a bone in class. My child informed the on duty teacher of their symptoms, cause, and the on duty teacher placed a call to the nurse. My child was in extreme pain, had numbness, and could not move the effected area. My child was informed by the on duty teacher to head to the nurse. My child was not offered a wheelchair or even an adult to accompany them.It appears there is low standard of providing students with basic accommodations when there is a serious injury or appears to have symptoms of one. At minimum if a student informs a staff member who may or may not be trained in such areas should have at least been informed by the medical staff on what to do and what process to follow. I doubt the medical staff would just brush that off, right??In the event, if a future injury were to unfold (I hope not) that there would be guidelines established on how to proceed. What if my child was further injured on their way to the nurse, and could not get the medical attention needed because they were left to fend for themselves on school grounds? I will update my post once I hear back from the proper officials. **Disclosure** My child’s injury was confirmed with an FNP the same day, and a follow up with an Orthopaedist has been arranged. These are my own personal statements and observations, and are not intended to defame the reputation of MPS in any such manner.
Posted by a parent on 4/21/2021My daughter is a 7th grader at Carson. Before coming to Carson she had been struggling in elementary school and I was worried concerning her grades and going into Jr High. She is excelling in school. She is on the honor roll. All of her teachers are amazing. She is happy and I am extremely happy. The staff at the school is great as well. I'm very happy that I sent my daughter to Carson Jr High.
Posted by a parent on 11/18/2015We moved to AZ and unfortunately did not research schools properly. Compared to our last school, Carson students made it look like the getto, but the teachers and staff seemed to work really hard at reaching the students. The band program is amazing as well.
Posted by a parent on 9/27/2015Carson Jr. High is a great school ! The days I got to stay at Carson were great ! I met new friends , new teachers , new people , and new things I didn't know about. The teachers at that school are great ! My favorite teacher was Mrs.Ruiz ! She helped me get better with my English and also with my grammar! The principal is a great guy!I moved from Carson. I cried on my last day, it was sad leaving my friends behind and moving to another school . I mean I had A's & B's when I went to Carson , but then I moved to Kyrene Middle School and my grades went down.I went from A's & B's to C's & F's. I'm moving back to Carson though (: which makes me really glad ! Carson Jr. High is a great school ! If you're a Carson student don't forget that " Once a cougar, always a cougar! " !
Posted by a community member on 11/5/2014I'm already frustrated by administration incompetence. Nobody ever calls me back or responds to my emails. The website has tons of broken links and references to obsolete info. My son seems to like his teachers, and that about sums it up. The Robotics Club never runs because of attendance. Well, attendance is lacking because they never run the club meetings. It's not promoted or advertised on the website. I'm finding Common Core UNDERwhelming and dumbed down; and, I don't believe that our kids will progress adequately. My son told me that half of the 7th grade year will be spent on review. What??? Seriously? There is never ever any homework. So, no learning then? Awesome. I hate and resent that our financial position forced us to move into town and pull my son from an A rated charter school and put him into the worst performing public middle school in Mesa. I've tried giving this school a chance but when you don't fix the easy stuff, well...... How can we improve this school? For starters, fix the website that I've asked to be updated since July and return calls and emails. Also, put the parent FIAT meetings on the calendar so parents know when they can attend the meetings.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers here have their hands full that's for sure. Lot of the students come from families that do not speak English very well. I think having Spanish speaking teachers as aids will really help the students. I like to see this school to push the parents to get more involve. You go to these award events and see no parents show up! Parents have no clue on what their child is being taught in school. The families need to be the one to notice that bulling is being done and need to speak up to the teachers and even threated to get police involve. My granddaughter in 3rd grade was getting beat up by another student because that student did not want my granddaughter to be friends with the other student who were with this girl that was being bullied. Parents need to get more involve with school activities. Halloween get together at night where were the parents? Pizza night where are the parents? These teachers have a lot on their plate. We need to find ways to get Mom and Dad to get in volve. Allow parents to come in and watch a class 1 day a week or something. Need to change what the kids are learning. Basic math 2+2 . The children are being push through because of No kids Left behind. I do not believe in homework; kids spend hours in school learning and should not have to spend hours home doing homework where there is no one to answer questions to help with homework. Let support the teachers Mom and Dad. show up on get to gather nights, show up for pizza night. Ask your child's teacher on what can you do to help with the class or something, it may just be buying some supplies for the class such as paper. Your child learns in school starting with you as the parent. God Bless.Parent Review9mo ago - Whittier Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has gone down since principal Starky retired. They absolutely nothing regarding bullying and fighting. How is it possible that a student that has gotten in 4 fights is still attending school. Do our children need to be unalived for the staff to do something about it. I will be taking this to the news and writing the governor, it’s unacceptable the incompetence of all the staff at Whittier.Other Review2mo ago - Guerrero Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been a QOP family for 8 year. my oldest has now graduated but I still have little ones here. I love the family oriented and inclusive community. The staff is all very kind and welcoming. They do an outstanding job at educating at the highest standards. One of the best decision we have had for our children and their future.Parent Review8mo ago - Dobson-Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would say overall it was an enormous waste of our money and of our children's time. By the time we took our students out of this school they were so far behind (in math in particular) that it was embarrassing to them at their new schools.Parent Review4y ago
