Whittier Elementary School

I am a parent of a student at Webster elemnetary, and I would like to raise a concern about the current pick-up and drop-off situation. At present, there is no designated parking lot or safe area for parents to wait. This forces many of us to park on nearby side streets, where homeowners understandably get frustrated, and in some cases, we risk receiving citations due to limited legal parking spaces.Recently, I was cited for parking too close to a stop sign while waiting to pick up my child. Unfortunately, this highlights the fact that the current system is not working well for families or the surrounding neighborhood

The school principal bullies and physically grabs students. The security camera at the school conveniently malfunctions whenever complaints about the principal are raised. Teachers claim to be concerned but they only focus on students who exhibit disruptive behavior and refer them to special education. Students are told to behave well when visitors are coming. Children like my daughter who is quiet goes unnoticed that she struggles with reading until it is time for state testing. During happy hours teachers mock the families they dislike. Parents are really not welcome. We left that school.

My child is a student in the Spark program. Yes, this is the only Tempe school with this special education program. However, that does not excuse the teachers and staff for their breakdown in thorough communication. I have had to reach out myself every quarter to receive updates as the school failed to do so themselves.

We have been a QOP family for 8 year. my oldest has now graduated but I still have little ones here. I love the family oriented and inclusive community. The staff is all very kind and welcoming. They do an outstanding job at educating at the highest standards. One of the best decision we have had for our children and their future.

Nice Montessori setting but children must be neurotypical. Children with even the slightest difficulties are pushed out.
